Final count down, 1 more day to go!

If we pregnant ladies can really count down to the day when our baby will be born that would be fanstastic, but baby has her own timing for when she wants to make an apperance to the world!
I attribute all my anxiety to what this particular gynae told me after my check-up on Monday (30 Oct). I was doing my 39 week routine check-up at Serdang hospital, the regular gynae who sees me was not around so I get to see this chinese gynae. After looking at my file, he suggested that instaed of VBAC, I should go for a C-section. He said looking at my age, the reason for my first C, the risk of uterine rapture, safer for baby and blah blah blah, is better for me to have a C. He told me if I wanna C-section, I should be admitted on Tuesday and he will arrange for a C on Wednesday. I was sort of throw off balance by what he said as all this while I am mentally preparing myself for VBAC, and is aware of the risk of VBAC. But the way he sound make it quite unsettling for me, I was anxious. I told him I needed to think and discuss the matter with hubby. Will let him know the next day.
Went home, discuss the matter over with hubby and decided that since we have been praying, preparing and waiting till now for a natural birth, must as well wait till due date then see what's next. On tuesday, went back to see him. The particular gynae who recommended me for C did not come in till quite late. While waiting for him, I met the regular gynae who see me and I asked her if I could see her and discuss some matter with her. She is the consultant gynae, Dr Wan Hamilton, who is also the head of the O&G in Serdang hospital. Dr Wan is a very friendly lady. She remembers me and was happy to entertain me! So we had a chat and I told her about the other gynae's recommendation. She did an examination for me and was assuring me if I wanna try for VBAC, her stand still remain as we have talked abt it during my previous visit, and they will monitor the labor very closely. We also discussed if past due date, baby is still not ready to come, what procedure she would recommend. She reminded me to pray as well! After talking to her, my heart settled down a fair bit, so when the other gynae came in, I just told him I will wait!
Due to the unexpected episode with the other gynae, that's why I became very anxious about baby arrival for the past few day, worried about baby's well being and all the what if question pop in to my mind. But today, I am calmer because I learn to take this matter to the Lord and the prayer in the devotional book that I read reminds me that God is in control and He is the one who is in charge of life.
My sister gave me this devotional book entitle "I'm having a baby, help me Lord" when I was pregnant with Qi Ning. It has a daily reading and a prayer. The prayer in the book helps me to learn to wait patiently for the perfect timing of this baby's birth. One of the prayer goes like this:" Father, once again I submit the cares and concerns I have regarding the birth of this child into Your hands. I trust that he will be born precisely at the time You ordained for your purposes."
So I am submitting all my "what if" questions to the Lord and trust His perfect timing in bringing the baby to the world! Be happy while waiting rather than be anxious so baby will come out a happy baby rather than an anxious baby! :)

I am still around!

Yes, two more days to go and I am still around! I told baby if she doen't want to come out on 4Nov then she can come on 8Nov which is daddy & mummy wedding anniversary. Our plan is if baby don't come on the EDD, which is this Saturday, we will see the gynae on Monday and discuss about induction and things like that. So at the moment is still a waiting game.
We also have been preparing Qi Ning for the day when Mummy have to go to hospital for delivery. I have never left her since she was born and she is very attcahed to me when come to sleep time at night. We told her when mummy goes to hospital for delivery, she has to sleep with daddy. We also get her to talk to baby and ask baby to come soon. She prays for mummy as well for a smooth delivery.
Qi Ning is getting more independent nowadays. She now prefer to goes to the bath room rather than her potty. She can feed herself quite well and drink from a cup without spilling all over. Her imagination is budding well. She will pretend to be character that she read from her story book such as the big bad wolf, snow white..etc. Sometime, she would dress up and say she is a bride, or cover her face with a veil to ask us to unveil the bride.
She also loves to play hide and seek with us. She will pretend to close her eyes and count one to ten while we try to hide! There is so much joy seeing her grow. :)

The wait begins

Since last week, everyone who sees me is asking when is the baby due. And I have to keep telling them not yet, soon baby will arrive. Four more days to my due date. One of my collegue whose due date is one day after mine gave birth on the first day of Raya. So now everyone is after when I will pop! I am also anxiously waiting for the arrival of my bundles of joy but my baby seem to be very comfortable in mummy's stomach. No sign of labor yet. The head is down but not in the position yet.
From about a month ago, people have been saying that my baby seems to have descended, should due soooner than the expected due date. But I am so near to due date, still no sign! From history, I have a feeling my baby will not be on time. Qi ning was five days overdue. My mum told me when she was having us, all of us were overdue, my sister's babies were all over the due date as well.
I am sweet talking to my baby not to delay for too long and hopefully not to the extend of need to be induced as mummy is hoping for a natural birth after C section (Qi ning was a C section). So this few days have to talk to baby more.
Actually, mummy is also feeling a bit umcomfortable running around with a big tummy. This time round, my tummy is really big, much bigger than when I had Qi Ning. Is quite difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position at night and is hard to change side while sleeping. All in all, I am hoping baby will come quick so mummy can carry baby in my arm rather than in my tummy. So my dear baby please do come on time and do not delay. We are all waiting for your arrival! :)

Two years and one month old

Life is amazing, especially when you see the little one grown from a tiny little baby to a pre-scholler. As I looked back how 25 months ago QI Ning was just a little new born babe, today she is a chatty little girl! Each day, when I hold her hand, I am just so thankful to the Lord for her.
Now, let see what she has achieved thus far. She is fully tiolet trained during the day time, no more diaper only at night. When she wanna pee or poo, she want to take off her pant by herself and is refusing help. Wanting to be independent! She weighs about 12.5kg and height is about 87cm.
Language wise, she is able to communicate in English, Mandarin and Bahasa. A little bit in Foochow (daddy & mummy's dialect), mummy hope she will pick up more Foochow so need to make an effort to speak to her in Foochow. She can hold simple conversation with people and respond appropriately. She loves to sing and can sing many songs. She also loves to read books and can tells us story from the book that she reads. She remembers the character from the story and will choose which character she want to associate herself with and which she doesn't want.
Her favourite question now is "What is this Mummy?" Whenever she see anything that is not familiar she would asked the question and it would be non-stop when we are outside the house as there are so many thing that caught her attension. I guess soon it will be the WHY question oledi!
See my girl has grown and she knows she is going to be jie jie soon!

Bubbles fun

Long time ago, I think it was during Chinese New year time when we were back at my in law that Qi Ning first had her encounter with bubbles. Somehow, she always remember those moments and talked about it often. Her memory often caught me by suprise, because many thing I don't think she could possibly remember due to her young age but she could! She always remember is her Juney jie jie that blows the bubbles for her. She likes the bubbles. So lately, we bought bubbles set for her. She is so thrill by it and has been playing with it often. Now she don't need us to blow the bubbles for her, she can even blow her own bubbles. Of course we need to monitor her closely, just in case she put the tube too near her mouth. Her is a glimpse of her chasing the bubbles!

"The sky is dirty"

Due to the haze, we having been really taking Qi Ning outdoor the past few days. On Saturday, the sky was cleared for once, we took her outdoor. In the evening after dinner, we saw beautiful skyline with different colours, blue, orange, etc. She was excited. However, the beautiful clear sky did not last long, only for a day.
On Sunday morning, the haze came back. Qi Ning notice the changes, when we took her to church in the morning, she look at the sky and told me " Mommy, the sky is dirty! Clean the sky". Indeed the sky is dirty, what a huge task to clean the sky. So I told her to pray to Jesus and ask Jesus to send the rain to clean the sky and she did! Sad that our kids have to live with a "dirty sky" because of irresponsible adults!

Birthday Photos

Finally, this slow action mummy get to upload Qi Ning's two years old birthday's photo. The yellow dress birthday celebration was few days earlier than her actual birthday. We had a small party at home for her. The one in pink dress is her actual day, celebrating with Shirly jie jie who share the same birthday with Qi Ning at a restraurant.
From the day that she was born till now, time seems to fly and this little girl of our has brought us much joy and blessing. Life is never the same because of our darling girl, Qi Ning. May she continue to grow to be a blessing not only to our family but to many others!

" Mummy slowly"

I am into final 40days of my preganancy, can't wait for the baby to be out! I am getting bigger each day and getting up from the bed every morning is no longer as easy. I have to slowly move to the right position before I can get up. Qi Ning is very much aware of mummy's clumsiness and she take it upon herself to remind mummy to be careful. :) Nowadays, every morning when she see me trying to get up from bed, she will remind me "mummy slowly". It used to be hubby who does the job, now my little girl has taken over the job! :) She not only will remind me to be careful but also remind me to pray for the baby and smooth delivery. Each night when I pray for her, if I didn't pray for baby, she will remind me and if I don't ask for smooth delivery, she will remind me to pray for smooth delivery! So sweet my girl.
As of last week, Dr. say baby weight about 2.1kg. Hubby is worried that baby might be too big for natural delivery and he kept reminding me to watch up on my food intake. I am hoping for natural birth this time round as I had C-section with Qi Ning due to poor progress. Qi Ning was 3.7kg as a newborn, don't know how heavy this baby gonna be. Wanna guess? :)

Two years old birthday celebration

My princess turn two yesterday. Mummy took a day off and spent time with her. She is very happy to have mummy staying at home with with her. Her birthday celebration started on Saturday. We had a simple celebration for her last Saturday. The guess are all her favourites auties and uncle from church. The most enjoyable moment for her was the cake cutting session. When we brought out the cake for her, could see her face lighted up(will post all the photos later)! We all sang birthday song for her and could see she was grinning all over! After the song, she blew off the candles without any help and can even cut the cake! That night, before we sleep, I asked her if she was happy, she answer with a grin and say yes. I guess it is worth all the effort to have the little celebration just for her on Saturday!
Yesterday was her actual day for birthday. She shared the same birthday as Shirly jie jie from church, so the two families decided we would go out for dinner together. Before dinner, we took Qi Ning to IOI mall and let her have some fun at the carousel. She enjoys it as usual.
Uncle Yap bought two birthday cakes. One for his daughter (Shirly) and one for Qi Ning. Again, the highlight for Qi Ning is the cake cutting session. Imagine she sees two cakes in front of her. One with so many candles and one with two candles. She is just so delighted. Is easy to keep her happy, she don't demand much.
I am really glad to have Qi Ning as my daughter, she is such a blessing and joy to us.
Happy Birthday to my darling Qi Ning. Mummy loves you always!

Birthday party & Clown

On Saturday, I took Qi ning to a friend's daughter, Charmine, one year old birthday party. She was excited about going to the party. We gave her the birthday present to give to Charmine. She was holding it in her hand all throu' the car journey. I was afraid that she might not pass on the present but she did when she see the birthday girl!
All was well till we see the clown! Qi Ning was afraid of the clown! My friend specailly hired a clown to entertain the kids but Qi Ning would not participate in it. She was clinging to me the whole evening, hiding her face from the clown! If I attempt to bring her anywhere near the clown, she would cry. She even wanted to go back home immediately after seeing the clown! She told me she is scared of the clown. So instead of joining in the kids for the games and magic show, she joined mummy on the table for food. She was attarcted by the music and the laughter of the kids though but just refused to join in the fun.
When it was lucky draw time, the clown calls out her number, I took her to the front to collect her gift, she still refused to look at the clown. She cling on so tightly to me. But near the end of the party, she sort of warm up a little to the clown. At least she don't mind stand at a distant and look at the clown and line up for her baloon! I guess what she enjoy most during the birthday party is the time when we all sing birthday song to the birthday girl! She was happily singing and clapping her hands.
Seeing that she enjoyed the birthday song part, mummy decided that we are going to have a simple birthday party for her as well coming Saturday. I think she will be happy to have people gather around her to sing her birthday song!

"No, thank you. I eat a lot already!"

Is amazing to see how the vacabulary of the little one expands each day. Lately, I notice Qi Ning can really talk like a big girl. This is what happened during dinner time when she is being offer dishes that she don't really fancy.

Me: Qi Ning, you want to have somemore?
QN: No, thank you, I eat a lot already!

When she is being offer food that she likes (eg ice-cream, chocolate biscuit), she will request for more even if she just tell you "no, thank you, I eat a lot already!" When you asked her isn't she full, she will say "no, still hungry!"

A mother and daughter outing

I don't usually bring Qi Ning to sleep over at other people's house. But since she has indicated that she would like to stay with my brother on Sunday, so on Wednesday night, I took her to my brother's place and spent a night there. It is just me and her, without hubby and maid.
My youngest niece (Xin Rou) especially is thrilled to have Qi Ning sleeping over as she is about one and a half year older than Qi Ning. With Qi Ning around, she is no longer the youngest and can be a jie jie for a while! When it was time to sleep, all of them wanted to sleep with us. So end up the two younger one sleep with Qi Ning and I. Qi Ning was excited as well she didn't sleep till nearly 10.30pm. Her usual bed time is 9.30pm but since is a "holiday", I let her routine slip a bit
The second day (i.e Merdeka day), we went to Shangri-La for hi tea. My little girl sure know how to enjoy life! She could sit in her high chair quitely and wallup the food nicely. Mummy is pleased because that mean mummy can also sit down and enjoy her meal! :) She had a slice of pizza, some chicken, ice-cream, grape and strawberry. She also enjoy running around the pond with her cousins. Come to think of it, she didn't eat that much but was playing with the food! It was mummy that ate and ate! No wonder when it came dinner time she was hungry! Mummy just had some fruit for dinner.
I guess she was tired from all the fun and excitements from the previous night and also all the running round in the hotel, when we left for home at about 2.00pm( also passed her usual nap time), not long after the journey, she was happily zzzzzzzz away in her car-seat and slept on till about five in the evening! That night, we also settled her down early. By nine, she is in her dreamland already. This morning she woke up a happy girl. Waving and kissing mummy goodbye when mummy had to elave home for work!
It is good to have mother and daughter outing, think I should do that more often with her! :)

"Sweet" encounter

I have been trying to delay in exposing Qi Ning to sweets, chocolates and the likes. Last night she finally has her first candy stick without my knowledge. When I found out that she had a candy, she is already haly way thru' it. And there is no way I can get it away from her!
How did it happen? Well, it was from the well meaning restraurant's owner's daughter who was at the cashier couter dishing out lollies to little children who were running round while parents are busy enjoying their dinners. Last night, we had dinner with my brother and his family in VillaRaya. Little Qi Ning got restless after she is done with her meal and wanted to get down from her high chair and go to see the fishes. So I let her go with the maid watching after her. There were many kids running round including my brother's kids. While she was running round, mummy was enjoying her dinner. When mummy stops and turn around lokking for her little girl, I saw her with a coloirful candy stick in her hand! Not only her but all the kids have a candy stick on their hands and enjoying it. Now that she has had the "sweet" encounter, is going to be hard for me to keep her from the candy stick if she sees it again.
When it was time to go home after dinner, she went straight to my brother's car and wave bye-bye to me. We thought she might cry if we close the car door and drove off but she didn't. When we stop a little further to pick her from my brother's car, she is still happily walking round (no car seat in bro's car). I have to ask my nephew to gave her his left over candy stick to bribe her to come back to our own car (slap forehead)!

Little teacher

I found out recently that Qi Ning can be a good teacher. We were travelling to MIL's place and it was a long journey (Butterworth) on Monday. Since there is nothing much we could do in the car, except sing songs and tell story, Qi ning decides that she is going to teach kakak some songs.
It was very interesting and I was really suprise that she can really teach like a pro. this is what happened.

QN: kakak sing song Jesus loves me. (The maid went blue, so I translate the message)

Maid: Kakak tak tahu, Qi Ning ajar (kakak dunno the song, Qi Ning teach )

QN: Ok (she then proceed to sing the whole song in mandarin, after she finished the song she said) ini macam ya. kakak nyanyi.

She then sing line by line again, pause and request the kakak to follow her! :) It was so fun to see her be a teacher. We all can't help but laugh! I wonder where she learns to be a teacher1

Jealous and guilty at the same time

I dunno if other working mother feels the same like me or not. But I feel it at time, jealous when Qi Ning is close to the maid, feeling guilty when I get the maid to play Qi Ning play when I am at home. Most of the time I will try to play with her but sometime, I feel tired and asked the maid to play with her.
Before our new maid, after the first maid ran away either me or hubby will bath Qi Ning but now, with the tummy getting bigger, I find it hard to squat down to bath her. And since Qi Ning is allowing the new maid to bath her, we are beginning to let the maid bath her more often. So sometime, when I see the maid bath her, I feel kind of guilty, it should be me bathing my girl rather than the maid, especailly during the weekend!
Our new maid just arrived about three week ago. She is quite good with Qi Ning. At least Qi Ning will allow her bath her, carry her and play with her. Of course there are time Qi Ning would not want her kakak to help her but I have told her that kakak is a helper and she cannot say "don't want kakak". And this mummy get jealous when she is too close to the kakak! Hard to please ya this mummy!

"Is a boy or girl?"

Nowadays, this is one of the question that I have been asked on a regularly basis. "Is a boy or girl?" So far I have not been able to give an answer to this question as the doctor is not able to see from the scan due to baby's positioning. I guess for me, the most important thing is that the doctor is able to tell me if baby is healthy from the scan not the gender. So each time when I see the head, the little hands and legs from the scan, hear the heartbeat, I am pleased that baby is well.
Another question that often been asked is when is the baby due? Actually I also not very sure. If according to the last day of my menses, baby should be due 4 Nov but if according to the scan, the indicative size shows that baby due date may be one to two weeks later that the EDD given. Anyway, doesn't matter when baby is due, I know baby will come when he/she is ready to meet us!
During my earlier scan, doctor told me that I have low lying placenta and want me to be careful and the recent scan on tuesday (15/8), the scan show that it is no longer a low lying. Yippie, I am thankful for that. If not, may have to go for C-section again! I am hoping that this time I can have a natural birth. Have told the doctor about my desire but the doctor say must wait till nearer to term to see baby's condition and weight. If baby is too big then may not be advisable. So far, the baby's weight is only about a kilo. Mummy is the one putting on all the weight! So must watch out from now on my food intake!
Qi Ning is warming up more and more to the baby in mommy's stomach. She will greet baby "good morning", "good night" and even say " I love you baby" on her own accord. Is great to have kids ya!

"I want to go mommy office!"

Since it is term break for students, I am quite free in the office. So yesterday, I took Qi Ning to my office with me. She was really enjoying herself in the college. I have quite a big room to myself which consist of a lounge area for students to sit and relax, a room for me and a counselling room. So she is happy running from one place to another since there were no students around.
When she is bored, our maid, Sulikah will take her out of the office and have a run in the college compound. But most of the time she happy playing in my office area. I have a bottle full of stars that one of my friend make for me, she enjoys playing with that. Of course she also attarct a lots of attention from my fellow work mate. Good thing I am the only one in my department, so she did not disturb any other person. She spents the whole day in my office, even had her nap there! And when it is tiem to goes home, she sort of wanting to stay on.
Hubby was concerned that she may want to follow me to office everyday, he reminded me to tell her that it is only on occasion that I can bring her to office. Glad that he remind me. This morning when she woke up, first thing she told me is "I want to go mommy office!" So i explained to her why she can't go to mummy office everyday. Good thing she is understanding and didn't protest. When I left to go office, she also didn't fuss. I just give her a hug and kiss her goodbye then she let me go off!

My Little Angel

Each time when I looks at Qi Ning, I am just so amazed at how much she has grown! For the past twenty-two months, she has brought us much joy and is continuingly blessing us with more joy! I must say that she is an easy girl to take care and is very understanding. She is real kind and compassionate as well.
Now that I am expecting no 2, stomach is showing, she begins to appreciate a little bit more that there is a baby in mummy's stomach. Sometime, she would come close to me and "sayang" baby. We name baby '"bao bei" for the moment. So at time you would hear her sing song to bao bei. Whenever people ask where is mummy's baby, she will come around and sayang my stomach!
Before the arrival of no 2, I am thinking of getting her to sleep on her own bed. So that when no 2 is here, she does not feel that we suddenly put her in another bed! Guess I might meet with some resistance as now that I have weaned her off nursing, she want to snuggle close to me when she sleeps. And sometime, in the middle of the night, I can hear her saying "mummy hug hug Qi Ning!" Since she is sandwich between us at the moment, is easier for me to respond to her request for hug. Dunno what would happen when we move her to her own bed. We have gotten her a single bed, is already in our room but we have yet get her to sleep there. Not sure is harder for mummy or Qi Ning, for her to goes sleep on her own bed!

Kind and considerate

Dunno know why lately, I am having a hard time logging on to blogspot. It always take so long till I give up. But this incidents really worth blogging so I endure the long wait for the page to appear!
Is about my girl. Ever since I found out that I was pregnant, I have been trying to wean Qi Ning but she was not quite ready to give up. She still want to nurse before she sleeps at night and also first thing in the morning! So I just let her. But two days ago, dunno how or why, there was a crack on one side of the nipple. I show her and told her "mummy pain pain". she quickly blow for me. So that night, when she was about to slepp, she ask to nurse and then repeat to herself "mummy pain pain". She just snuggle closely to me without asking to nurse. I heard her saying to her self a few time "mummy pain pain" and then doze off to sleep.
The second morning, she again wanted to ask to nurse and then she answer herself by saying "mummy pain pain". Yesterday night and this morning was the same. Her gesture tells me she want to nurse and then she reminded herself of my sore nipple. And she don't demand to nurse anymore! I am very touch by her understanding and kindness shown towards mummy at such tender age. She know mummy will feel the pain if she demand to nurse and because she loves mummy she is willing to forgo her own comfort! What a kind girl that I have! Mummy is so pround of her!

Going to Kuching next week!

Yea, we are going to another holiday soon! This time round is heading toward Kuching, the cat city! So far, nothing has been planned, just gonna be a R&R trip for the family before mummy is grounded with another little one in November! I am doing the countdown, how many more days to go! We will be leaving KL on Wednesday and come back on Saturday.
Qi Ning is excited that she can go on the plane again! She rememebers her plane rides to Bangkok. Now, whenever we mentioned about plane ride, she would stretch out her hand and make a "oozzoo" sound as if the plane is flying. Is really cute to see her doing it
Any of you being to Kuching and have good recommendation, pls drop me a line!

Mamak kaki

I loves to drink teh tarik and eat roti canai. When we we going out as couple, hubby and I spent lots of our time at mamak stall but ever since we have Qi Ning, we seldom go to mamak anymore. But recently, we have introduced Qi Ning to roti canai, roti pisang, roti tissue, tosai..etc and she is loving it as well. Now we starts going back to mamak stall again! We usually go there for our Saturday breakfast.
On friday night we told her that we shall be going for roti canai in the morning. She is to wake up daddy and mummy when the sun shine in the morning. She was so excited about it that she woke up so early on Sat morning at 6.30am! She was quite good in not waking us up at 6.30am. She was playing in the bed on her own but when the day is slightly brighter at about 7.00am, she starts to wake us up to go for roti canai!

Qi Ning this and that

Yesterday was Qi Ning 21 mths old milestone. This little girl is getting very cheecky and manja nowadays! She will choose who will feed her, change her, hold her hand, bath her and help her with whatever she needs. If the person that she name (usually is either papa or mama, she just don't want the maid) does not do it for her, her tear will starts flowing down.
Now that mummy stomach is showing a little and due to low lying placenta, I am trying not to carry her at all and she doesn't seem to like these changes. So now when I tell her she is gonna be jie jie soon or just address her as jie jie, she would say "don't want jie jie already"!
Now she can hold a simple conversation with people and she will not always perform as you request anymore. She will only comply when she feels like it. But most of the time she is still very co-operative. Just by thinking of her brings smile to my face!

Weekends happening

Friday
Last friday was my birthday, like what one of my friend says the best gift is having Qi Ning singing the happy birthday song to me! :) Papa already told Qi Ning it was my birthday, so on friday evening when I arrived home from work she is ready to wish me "happy birthday" at the door step! We went out for dinner and then to buy birthday cake. I think Qi ning enjoy the whole event more than anyone of us. She is excited about the cake, the candles..etc. Seeing her enjoying the celebration brings contentment to my heart!

Saturday
On Saturday afternoon, we went out for lunch at a restraurant neaby our house. And guess what, we saw our runaway maid working there as a waitress! Don't know how to respond, called our maid agency to ask what should we do but till today they still have not get back to us. Also they are not sure if they have cancelled her work permit or not! I got so felt up with the agency but what can I do?
I actually spoke to the maid asked why is working there when her permit is is supposed to be under our name. She just kept quiet. She looked darker and thinner than she was with us. If my husband has not pointed out, I wouldn't have notice her. Meeting her sort of spoilt our mood for a while but later on we decided it is not worth allowing a runaway maid to spoilt our day.

Sunday
Is father's day which I nearly forgotten. I was reminded of it while at church. So I decided to join with another family to celebrate this day. We had dinner with uncle Yap's family at a Thai restraurant. Qi Ning enjoys herself very much. There was a fish tank near to our table so she was quite happy looking at the fish and playing with the fishes in the tank.

Blanket fun

For the past few days, ever since I introduce her to the blanket magic, Qi Ning is fascinated by what a blanket can do. Now she can spent half an hour just playing with the blanket. I think this is mainly due to her budding imagination. With the blanket, she can imagine it to be anything she wants, one moment can be superman's outer suit, a scalf..etc One minutes she will wear the blanket as a scalf, or just wrap round like a batik skirt, sometime, she would sit there and wrap her Barney with the blanket as well. And then she will turn it into a bed for Barney to sleep. She would say "Barney Oi mee mee time huh" (time to sleep) and she will sing lalluby song for Barney. so cute to see her trying to imitate mummy!

Fun fair

Last night after dinner, daddy decided to take us to a fun fair. Actually he has been talking about bringing Qi Ning to fun fair for the past week only mummy is lazy to go during the weekday. So last night, since both mummy & Qi Ning had a good nap in the vening, after dinner with Aunty Lee & family, off we go to fun fair!
Qi Ning was very excited upon seeing all the light and hearing the music blasting from the car park. Her hand was up in the air and her feet seems to be dancing. We took a walk round and decide what are the ride that is safe for her to go on. Daddy went with her for all the rides except the train ride. Mummy cannot go on any of the rides with her because of pregnancy and all those rides seem to make me dizzy!
Her first ride with daddy was the UFO which was not very suitable for her so only two round, I have to ask the operator to slow down and let them off the ride. It was going tos fast, I guess it will be a thriller for a youth not a toddler. Then they went for the giant wheel, which was ok for her. Her favourite ride is the train, she wanted to go for another round when her ride ends!
We also let her play with some of the games, trying to win some prizes. It was just fun to see her enjoying herself! We throw the ping pong ball. fish with a net and watch other people throw darts, shooting, and all the game stores in the fun fare. Of course fun fair is not complete without the kacang putih, so we also had a packet of kacang putih in our hand.
I myself have not been to fun fair for so long so it was good to visit it with Qi Ning.

My Darling, Qi Ning

Qi Ning was down with fever for the past few days, the fever come on and off. She is still her usual active self despite the fever. I didn't give her any medication earlier on as the fever was very mild but later when her fever went up to 38.4degree, I gave her paracetomol. I was worried that she may not like the medicine and might struggle with me, but surprisingly she took it very well, no fuss at all! Mummy was so happy that she is so co-operative when comes to taking medicine.
She is also quite good in drinking plain water. Since she is having fever, we encourage her to drink a lots of water and she will do as told. Only sometime she would choose who should hold the cup for her, either daddy or mummy. She even wakes up in the middle of night to ask for water! So mummy has got panda eyes for this few days!
My Qi ning is a real darling, at such young age, she seem to be a very understanding girl. I just need to explain the situation to her and most of the time she will comply. This morning, after breakfast, I was playing with her and when is time for me to go off to work, she actually tells me to go and plant a kiss on my lip and say "mummy I love you" before I leave the door! Previously she would cling on to me and say "mummy cannot go to office"! What a change.
Now she also will say "mummy I love you" without being prompt. Is so sweet to hear that from her. Sometime I also encourage her to say "I love you baby" especailly during the night time when we are getting ready to sleep. And I will say to her on behalf of baby "jie jie I love you". Hopefully this will help to prepare her for the arrival of her sibling in November. She knows that mummy is carrying a baby in the stomach. When people ask her where is mummy's baby, she will say stomach.
With such a sweet girl at home, it sure make parenting a joy and I am looking forward to the new addition in the family. Thank God also my morning sickness is over!

Holidayings

Last friday, I took leave and went back Sitiawan to visit my parents along with my brother's family. Hubby couldn't make it so we tag along with my brother's family. I told Qi Ning we are going for holidays and she is very happy. Ever since our Bangkok trip in April, she understands what holidays mean (lots of fun for her!). So when hubby sent us to my brother's house, she refused to go in to the house, keeping telling me "holiday mummy". I have to assure her that we are going holidays with "xiao jiu" (uncle), only then she follows me in to the house.
After breakfast, we all jamed into my brother's MPV, five adults and five kids. This is the first time she trevels with her cousins and not having to be retrained to her car-seat. She was quite happy playing with her cousin's sunglass and hat, singing and chatting away. Also manage to get her to nap for an hour or so during the journey. At night, afetr dinner, we went shopping, she is so happy running round the aisle with her cousins. She was having so much fun that she doesn't even miss her daddy!
We took her to Teluk Batik beach on Saturday, too bad I didn't bring my camera so no photo. She really enjoy swimming in the sea and also playing with the sand. After the beach, we went for seafood dinner and it took a looong time for the food to be served, she was so tired that she dozed off while waiting for food. She slept thru' the dinner and mummy has to carry her and eat with one hand!
Sunday morning after breakfast we packed and get ready to head home and we stopped at Kuala Selangor for our seafood lunch, yummy yummy food at very reasonable price.
I guess maybe due to the hot weather, my little Qi Ning came down with slight fever after the trip. Thank God she is better today!

Twenty months old

When you have a little one at home, you realise how fast time flies and how fast the little one is growing! My Qi Ning is already twenty mths and 2 days old now! This busy mummy had no time to update her development last week.
Weight: 12 Kg
Height: 84cm
Toilet training: Successful, she can tell you when she want to poo & pee. Yea, mummy can save on diaper now!
I am happy with her overall development. She can sing quite well, new songs that she acquired this moths are: ABC song, There are seven days in a week, Jesus loves me, "ke ren lai". And sometime she would invent her own song.
At moment she loves to wear her slipper, whenever we go out she would ask to wear her slipper instaed of shoe. I told her to put on her shoes, her reply to me is "Ning Ning big girl wear slipper." I was suprised to hear saying that. Indeed my little girl is growing up fast! I really enjoy having her!

Busy, busy, busy

This week is a really busy week for me as it is the college annual family week where I am responsible for the events. Also because I am taking on teaching responsibility beginning this semester, I am not able to be home as early as I use to. My little girl is feeling the absence of her mummy. :(
Beginning this week, every morning she would hang on to me and refused to let me go to office. She would cry when I leave. This morning, when she saw me took out the office clothing, she actually asked me to put it back to the closet. I told her mummy need to go to the office and her answer is "cannot go"! It really sadden me to leave her behind everyday and some time I do feel guilty. Hope that she understand when she grows up why mummy need to go to office!

Horse riding trip!

Last weekend we went to Fraser Hill for our church camp. One of the highlight for everyone is the horse riding experience. Qi Ning also had a go at it. Last year when we took her there, she just sat on the horse and took a picture. This year she actually went for a walk on the horse with Shirley jie jie (Shirley jie jie share the same birthday as her). Qi Ning was so excited and wanted to go for another round!

To keep or not to keep the temporarily maid

About 11 days ago, we took a temporarily maid to help up at home. The agent say if we think she is ok, we can keep her. Have been observing her for the past weeks. For the first week, there were twice she woke up just before we get down for breakfast i.e 7.30am. Water is not boiled, her morning chores not done! She smile sheepishly and say "saya baru bangun" (just wake up), even after we have given her an alarm clock and is very sure that the alarm clock is working! Ask her if the alarm clock rings she say yes. We ask her to wake up at 6.00am or not later than 6.30am as per agent instruction but there are days that it doesn't seem to work!
She has improved in some of the task since the day she comes and seems to be eager to please us. She is not the smart type and does not take initiative in doing things. Even when you want to shows her how to do certain task, she will stand there and watch till you ask her to be involved!
We took her to the church retreat at Fraser Hill over the long weekend. There were three other maids, even those other maid told us not to keep her, saying she is inexperience and doesn't know how to do things.
For me, I do see her trying to do her best but I don't know whether is her nature or she is really slow, she just don't follow. You have to repeat and repeat for days then she will get it! I brought her to my sis-in-law place last Sunday, she has had maids for many years, her comment is that it seem like an attitude problem after she observe how my maid work in the kitchen for the evening.
I am not a very fussy person, I just want someone who can help do the housework and help to look after Qi Ning when I requires her to do so. Being a young girl she is not experience in taking care of little one. Ask her to help look after Qi ning she would normally just sit there with Qi ning or stand there looking at her. Told her, she has to communicate with Qi Ning and play with her if not Qi Ning would not want her. She is still not very good with Qi Ning yet.
So I am toying with the idea maybe I should not keep her. At the same time, I feel sorry for her. If I reject her, then this is her third time being rejected by an employer. I see that she is trying hard but somehow, I am not sure if she will continue to try hard when we take her on permanently! Her nature seem to be very lay back and I am not sure when our second baby arrive year end, with her slowness if she would be a help or a source of frustration! If I follow majority vote, she will have to go, if I let my heart have a say, I feel sorry for her and may keep her for trying hard but if I allowed my rational mind to be involved, then I may follow the majority. Hubby and I are undecided, we agreed we should observe her for a little longer b4 we decide! What do you say my blogger friends?!

Toilet Training

I wanted to start tiolet train Qi Ning since last month but because we have no helper at home, the plan was delayed. So now with a temporarily helper, we started to toilet train her. Yesterday was the first day that we did not let her wear diaper, just put on a short for her and tell her to alert us if she want to pee. We told her she is a big girl now, no need diaper and can just wear short and T-shirt like daddy and mummy. She seems to like that idea. I am pleasantly surprised that she was doing quite well on the first of toilet trainning. Whenever she wanted to pee, she would go near the potty and we help her to sit on the potty. she did not wet a single pants throughout the day! Hopefully she will continue on to be so good! :) That's for day time. Night time before she sleeps we still put on disposable diaper for her.

Temporary maid

Ever since my maid ran away last Nov, we have been managing it on our own thus far. We did talk about employing another maid but was a bit hesistant as we do not have anyone at home beside Qi ning and maid. But now with the pregnancy, I find myself quite tired without a maid, so we decided to get a maid instaed of waiting till the baby arrive.
On wednesday, we got a temporary maid from the agent. The agent told us we could try out this maid if we are happy we can keep her, if not we can look at some biodata and select a new one for ourselves. Since I was keen for the relief I took the offer and hubby also agreed that we try her out. She is young, only 19 year old, seem a bit blur and slow as compare to my previous one.
Our main criteria for maid to have an interest in our child. Yesterday, Qi Ning seems to be ok playing with her new kakak. But she still does not want the maid to change her, bath her etc. I guess she need some time. We will also need some time to observe if the maid is suitable to be our new helper at home. But for the time being, I am glad for the extra pair of hand to do the house work!

19 mths oledi

Time flies, my Qi Ning is 19mths old today. She weighs about 11.8kg and height is 84cm.
Early this months, she surprise me and hubby with complete songs. She use to be able to tag along us on few words here and there when we sing but one day we heard her singing song fully on her own without us helping her. Two of her favourite at the moment are:

小老鼠,上灯台,偷吃油,下不来,瞄瞄瞄,猫来了,竭力骨碌下来。

1234567,我的朋友(祈宁〕 在那里, 在这里,在这里,我的朋友 (祈宁〕就是你。

We also started to let her join in the Sunday school singing time and she is learning a few more songs. She is picking up words very fast. Sometime I wonder where she learns all those words! Hubby and I have to be extremely careful of what we say in front of her.
She used to call herself Ning Ning, now she calls herself Qi Ning and no more Ning Ning! She has a good memory, yesterday evening, hubby and I were discussing if we want to take her to Bukit Jalil park, upon hearing Bukit Jalil park, she bark in with windmill and monkey! She remembers what she sees even it was months ago!
She is a joy to us!

Qi Ning first trip on the plane to Bangkok

We went to Bangkok early this month. It was the first time that Qi Ning was on aeroplane. She was so excited. We were travelling on AirAsia and was using the newly opened low cost terminal. As we were waiting in the airport to board the plane, she was so excited to see the plane waiting at the airport. When it was our turn to board, as we walk toward the aeroplane and up the stairs to the plane itself, she keep grinning! When in the plane, we let her sit near the window so she could see outside. She was just so curious and excited. Even though it was well past her nap time, she was still very busy exploring her new environment. Soon after the plane take off she also dosed off into her dreamland!
We had a relaxing trip in Bangkok. Mostly just eat, sleep and shop. The foods and shopping is good but with little Qi Ning around, we didn't do much shopping. I would love to shop for a longer period in Chautuchat weekend market but having to carry her, one hour is all that I can manage! She cling to me and want me to carry her most of the time. We took her for a boat ride at the Chaopraya river. She was quite thrilled by the experience. We let her tried all the different mode of transport in Bangkok, tuktoo, BTS, boat and of course taxi.
Near to the hotel that we satyed, there is a mini railway station (i think) and we could hear the train and see it passing by, Qi Ning just loves to see the train. Whenever she hears the whistles, she would quickly run to the window and says "choo choo train"!
I can see that she enjoys the holidays in bangkok very much and that make the trip all worth it!

Qi Ning and friends

One of my friend who migrated to Australia came back for holidays so we met up. She has two kids, one age four and another 17mths old. We went to McD for dinner as little Joel decides that's what he wants and Qi Ning get to eat french fries for the first time. She likes it and was helping herself to it.

Here is a photo of them in front of a small acquarium at IOI Mall.
Left to Right: Joel, Zoe & Qi Ning

Going to Bangkok

Last year, during Air Asia free ticket give away, I went on to book for us a family trip to Bangkok. Yes, tomorrow we will be going till Saturday. This is the first time for Qi Ning to ride on the plane. We have been telling her that we are going to take her on a plane ride and counting down the day with her.
I am quite excited abt going for the holiday but sometime I am also concern whether is it safe to travel at such early stage of my pregancy. I am two mind about it but since is going to be free and easy, not joining tour, if I am not up to it, guess we can just sleep in the hotel!

Less energy to surf & blog

Nowaday looking at Pc too much will cause me to feel really tired and dizzy ( have got low blood pressure with this pregnancy). Even though I wanna surf other people blogs and updates my blog as regularly as possible, I find myself has less energy to do that and the dizzy spell is a deterent for me to stare into the Pc for a long time! Really miss those time when I can surf all day without feeling tired or dizzy.
With the drop of one nap time, Qi Ning routine is changing but it has niot settle yet. When she was having two naps, she sleep about 10pm, mummy can have some night life, shopping and visiting people. But now, with only one nap, she is tired by the time I get back from work. Nurse her, bath her, feed her and is time for bed. She sleep abt 8.30pm and wake up really early in the morning about six something. Good thing is that she don't disturb us, she just entertain herself!

ZZZZZZZZZ Time

Recently it is ghard to get Qi Ning to nap. When is time for her usual nap, she would refuse to put her head down. She would protest loudly with her "no" and if we hold her she would stiffen her body. She fight not to sleep even when she is very tired. I know she is tired because if I insist to hold on to her and rock her, within minutes she will drift into her dreamland. Usually she takes two nap but ever since she turn 18mths, she drop to one nap a day but a longer one, about two hours plus. 18mths seem to be a milestone where toddler drop to one nap a day and they seem to just notice it!
I dunno whether is it because I am away from her in the day time, at night in her sleep she will be asking for mommy. She will call out for mommy a few time in the night throughout her sleep. I will have to assure her that mummy is here beside her verbally or pat her slightly. Then she would drift back to sleep happily and sometimes she would want to nurse for comfort!
Nursing is quite painful while you are pregnant as the nipple is very sore especially when she first latch on! But I really has no heart to wean her as she don't seem to be ready. I am trying to talk to her about weaning but don't think it work at the moment. So just have to endure lah!

Eighteen months

Wow, my Qi Ning turn 18mths today. I nearly forgot till i saw the Lilypie display on my own blog today. (forgetful mummy). Cannot beat those hard working mama who record down detail of their little one develpment in their monthly record. I can only say I am very happy with Qi Ning development thus far. And I really enjoy having her to be my daughter.
One developement of her that amaze me is her ability to associate things together. For example,
if I say we go Sitiawan, she will mention "Ah Ma", that''s where my parents stay
Gideon's khor khor house, she will say "por por", my MIL stay there.
Juney jie jie =bubbles ( because during CNY, Juney jie jie play bubble with her)
"da jiu" (my eldest bro) = Sunny , ampion (champion) my brother has got two dogs by these name.
She seem to be able to relate thing together. She knows quite many title to her books, we play pick the book games with her. We mentioned the tittle of the book and she goes to her collection and pull it out for us.
She is growing up fast and we hope to do our best to bring her up to be a responsible adult. Qi ning darling, you will always be my precious girl, no matter how old you are!

Morning Sickness

Can't help but to compare the two pregnancy. When I was preganant with Qi Ning, I practically sail thru' it without much morning sickness. I had one colleague who was also pregnant at that time. She was having bad morning sickness, no apetite, nauseating ..etc while I was eating like a cow then!
Now I am having my morning sickness, even though is term morning sickness but it last thru the day, not just the morning! I feel nauseating all day, no apetite, mouth is so tasteless and some of the smells in the surrounding worsen it as well. I hate going to the toilet in my office, the smell there just make me want to puke but I can't not go to toilet for the whole day. The fume emit by the car/ lorry, the body odor, the smell of dried pandan leave..etc. I cna't describe the feeling but is not very good at all.
I also find myself feeling more tired and short of breath easily. Wish I could just stay home and rest whenever I want to! Food wise, I begin to carve for anything sourish and want soup, that's all. I try not to eat so much of the sour palm but I enjoy eating it with my apple once a day.
Now that I experience morning sickness myself, I can relate better to other pregnant lady when they share with me the woe of morning sickness.

Saxaphone

When I reach home after work, I am feeling quite tired by then and now couple with the nauseating feeling, I usually feel quite terrible. But I still try to make it a point to play with Qi Ning. She is a good girl and quite easy to please. I just need to introduce something new to her and that will keep her occupied for quite sometime and i can just rest in peace. So lately, I have introduce music to her.
Two night ago, I let her listen to Kenny G music and she seem to like it a lot. She could stand there quitely and listen for quite a while. I told her is a saxaphone that he is playing and she can pronounce the word saxaphone quite clearly. Whenever I want to distract her from activities that I don't wish her to continue, I would just tell her "let go upstairs to listen to the saxaphone". She would go upstairs happily with me and will be chunting the word "saxaphone" all the way up!

Positive

Have been toying for the whole morning if I should blog abt this yet but I happy news is to be shared right?! :)
Last night, I did a pregnancy test and is positive! I was so happy and told hubby that he is gonna be a papa again. He is grinning all over, we were both very excited. He ask me who am I going to share this news with first. I shared it with Qi Ning first this morning. Informing her that she is gonna be a jie jie(elder sister) soon. She was just grinning to me, dunno if she undertands what I say but to see her smile after hearing the news is good enuf for me!
No wonder my milk production was so low which led me to eventually quit expressing at work a couple of week ago. Though I am still nursing direct when with Qi Ning, and now I understand why I feel that my nipple is so sore when she latch on, and the backache, the tiredness ... for the pass few weeks!
I dunno know if it is psychological or it is really morning sickness, this whole morning I feel nauseated, only starts to experience the morning sickness stronger today! Maybe because in the earlier day, I was just brushing all those symptons (nauseated, tired) aside by assigning some reason to it.. Now I am pregnant is ok for me to feel all those symptons and I am feeling it much more!
Have not been to the gynae, probably will see him later this week but will go for a check-up at a clinic first tommorrow nearby my office. Pray that all is going on well. Congratulations to me! LOL

Cereal Monster

Last Monday, I bought a pack of fruit and fibre breakfast cereal and let Qi Ning have a try. From that day onward there is no end to cereal. Whenever she wanted something to munch, she will ask for cereal!
It seems like she will be hooked to a particular food for a period of time and then later she will switch. Before the cereal, her favourites is the Julie, wheatmeal biscuit. Every morning, breakfast will ask for her wheatmeal biscuit, after lunch, whaetmeal biscuit, snack time, wheatmeal biscuit!!
Now is cereal time, what is next I dunno. :)

You want a boy or girl?

Last night hubby asked me if I were to be pregnant now, would I ask God for a boy? I pause and think for a while, I guess it really don't matter to me anymore whether I have a boy or girl. When I was first pregnant with Qi Ning, initially I did wish for a boy but was just a brief moment. When I knew that is going to be a girl, I welcome her whole heartedly. Now, when I think of having no2, I often ask if I could love no2 as much as I would Qi Ning? Sometime I feel like I have given Qi Ning all my love, when no 2 come, would I have enuf love for him/her?
As I was sorting thru' my thought about whether I want a boy or girl (this is after having Qi Ning), I came out with this theory. For those who are very traditional who prefer boy than girl, it will be better if their fisrt baby is a girl then follow by boy. Reason being since it is the first baby in the family, the baby (irregardless of gender) would still get all the attension and loves. And since the family prefer boy, when the second baby is a boy, he will get equal attension and love as the first born. This is just my theory, but I hope all parents will try to love their children fairly and not to show favoritism. I have encoutered many clients who were deeply hurt by their parents because they prefer boys more than girls.
As to the question whether boy or girl, I don't really care as long as they are healthy, I am happy oledi!

Water Baby

Qi Ning loves water! Each time after bath, is always a struggle to get her up from her bath tub. Will have to use all sort of trick to get her up. She just enjoy playing with water and all her bath toys. Even when I don't give her the bath toys she can still sit there playing with the water using the plastic cup that we use to shower her and invent her own fun with the water. So each time, we need to give her 20mins sometime half and hour for each bath! She can spend hours in swimming pool if the water is not too cold.
She also loves to drink soup. Whenever I cooked soup, she would wallop a big bowl! But this lazy mummy only cook soup two or three time a week. Last night dinner, there was no soup on the dinner table but she notice a few drop of water(steam condensed to water after we heat up the food) on the side plate and start asking for soup! So mummy promised her that I will cook soup for her today. Anyone got nice soup recipe? I limited company, only know a few soup recipe (less than one hand can count). How nice if I can cook all different soup for her each day!

My first step to weaning

Finally, I have stopped expressing milk for Qi Ning at work since last friday. When she was still a baby, after the confinements, I used to express three time a day at work to get enuf feed for her. Then when she started solid at 6mths old, I reduced the expressing to two time a day. When she passed her one year old birthday, I had intention to stop expressing at work but it keep get postponed but I did reduced it to once only.
Since my production is very low lately, can only get 2 oz for the whole day so I finally gave up expressing at work. It was a conscious decision, so last friday, when it was my usual time for milk expression, I just kept on working till is time to go home!
So now every morning, I don't have to carry big bag, small bag to office. I can leave all the gear (ice-pack, cooler box, towel, milk container..etc) behind! Actually I haven't store all those gear away yet, I am still leaving it at the office. I dunno, just have the in case thought! :) My friend always said my yellow bag is a goodies bag for my girl! Now no more goodies bag for my girl oledi. I kinda of miss it but at the same time feel relief, all those expressing sessions can be quite tiring at time, especially when the produce is very little.

Weekend Special Treat

Usually during the weekend, we try to add some special treat to Qi Ning's daily routine. Last friday, we took her to IOI mall for the merry-go-round ride. She enjoys it so much that after the ride, she is asking for more! This is her third time on the merry-go-round. The first time was somewhere in late December when we had our farewell dinner with uncle Pey and his family. She didn't really know how to appreciate it during that time. Two weeks ago, we took her for her second ride and she enjoys it. What amaze me is that she has two books with merry-go-round, so after the second time she went on the ride, when home, she took out the books with merry-go-round and show us! So last friday, we tok her for another ride, she was so thrill. Took pictures of her on the merry-go-round. Will post it later.

Saturday Zoo Trip
Finally, this lazy mama brought Qi Ning to the zoo on Saturday. We reached the zoo about 10am, saw the 10.30am elephant shows. Qi Ning was quite excited to see the elephants dancing and splashing the water. But we miss the multi-animals show at 11.00am! :( There were many ziraffes around but not many lions or tigers. Only saw one or two of them. Qi Ning was happy to see the monkey and orang utan jumping around. She enjoys the kambing (goats) in the kid's world and also the ride on the mini open air bus in the zoo. We were there for about two hours, left around 12pm. Photos will be out later.

Sunday hospital visitation
Sunday morning is her usual day of breakfast out with uncle yap and gang after the prayer meeting. Afternoon after church, the outreach team was going to Serdang hospital for visitation. Since Qi Ning had a two and half hour of nap in the morning, I decided we would tag along for the visit. Serdang hospital is really very big and nice, not many patients though. Is very spacious and don't feel like is a government hospital. Facilities in the ward look pretty goods. Qi Ning was happily running around the corridor while others spoke to the patients.
By the time we had dinner after the visitation, she was really tired. Immediately after her bath, I nurse her and she was asleep by 8.30pm. What a busy day for a little girl!

My Little Helper

Since we don't have maid now, we have to do everything on our own. And Qi Ning is at the stage where she like to imitate us in whatever we do. So last night, I decided to make her my little helper. Supursingly, she did her job well.
Last night, I was doing laudry, I got her to sit by me and entertain me. Later when I want to put the clothes on the line to dry, I get her to take the clothes out from the pail and pass it to me one by one. She did just that and I commented her for being such a good helper. She was pleased.
Nowadays, we are also training her to put away her own toys, keep it back to the place where it belongs. So far so good, with our help, she would dutifully put back her toys. Sometime, half way thru' keeping the toys she would wonder away so I have to bring a little toy and put in her hand and direct her back to the toy area and get her to continue on keeping the toys away. Most of the time she would comply, hope it would be like this always! :)

Midnight call

Lately, Qi Ning has been very clingy. Even at night in her sleep she will be calling for me and if I don't response to her by going near her and lie next to her, she would starts crying. Or she would sit up and starts crying for mummy! If I go staright to her when she calls for me, usually she will continue on sleeping or sometimes ask for comfort nursing. This usually happens few times a night, aiyo, worst then when she was a baby! Is it separation anxiety I dunno but mummy is getting all the panda bear. So now I am wondering if this is because I began to let her sleep on a mattress next to our bed on her own or wat? But even when she was co-sleeping with us, she also will ask for comfort nursing a couple of time.
Some people has recommended cry it out method to let her not get into the habit of comfort nursing and the midnight call. But I don't think I have a heart to really try that. I tried giving her water in replace of the comfort nursing, it didn't work. When I give her the water, she will say "no" and ask for nen nen , even in her sleep! So I think mummy is going to have a hard time weaning her and also have to attend to her midnight call just like doctor on call!
Talk about cry it out, I sort of have an expereince when she was 1 mth plus. It was one of my friend who actually try to help me to get Qi Ning to sleep/nap on her own. So, one day when she was visiting me, it was abt Qi Ning nap time, she wanted to show how to put Qi Ning to sleep on her own and it was the cry it out method. I usually will hold Qi Ning and gently rock her, sing to her and only put her down to sleep when she doze off in my arm. But this particular day, I am going to learn to just put her on her cot and pat her to sleep. Poor little baby doesn't like that and she cries her lung out. I was told to let her cry and soon she will learn that it didn't work. She cried for quite a while and to be frank I was quite heart-ache to have her cry for so long and so loud. But since my friend was suppose to be an expert in child care, I just let her continue on "teaching" Qi Ning to sleep on her own.
To me, cry it out method does not really work. I just can't bear to see the little one protest so loudly. So I am still using my own way of bringing Qi Ning to her dreamland. Since we don't use sarong craddle, we would pat her and sometime rock her to sleep for her nap time. At night, she want to be nurse, sometime she want to be nurse till she sleep, sometime she would play till she sleep. I don't know if what I do contribute to her habit of midnight call or comfort nursing, I know I would be more stressed if I follow all the book method! So just let it be my way of dealing with her midnight call! hehehehe...

Weekends or holidays always seem to pass by faster than any other day! Had a really good time with Qi Ning. Took her for a swim on Saturday at a friend's condo. She enjoys it but the water was really cold. Like I mentioned before, this mummy is a blur sotong, always missing things or not doing the right things, this time I forgot to put her swim suit into the beg after changing her. When I realised it, maybe about ten minutes after we left the swimming pool, I went back to look for it but her swaim suit is gone! Aiya, what a bummer!! But guess what, the same night, Wai Khan Ah Yee asked me if Qi Ning would like to have her niece swim suit which is quite new and nice but her niece has out grown it! What a blessing!
Sunday usually is a church day. Morning, we follow daddy for the prayer meeting, after that we would go for breakfast with uncle yap, uncle Pei Ang and Yong che gege. Then we will head home for Qi Ning's morning nap. After thse wakes up from her morning nap, will be lunch and get ready for the after church service.
Yesterday, after church, we went home for a quick sanck and took Qi Ning to Bukit Jalil Park Auntie Grace came with us her because her place in Shah Alam is flooded and she is spending a night with us. We were very fortunate that it didn't rain yesterday evening as the last time when we took Qi Ning there, it rained when we reached there.
Qi Ning was very happy to see so many children, fishes, turtles, water fountains and so big place for her to run about. I guess this is by far, the most stair case that she walked till she was so tired. Took her to the mini country and she seem to fancy Canada the most, maybe because it is colourful. She keep saying "anada" (canada) as we walk away. She was thrill by the windmill, daddy hold her up high and she gets to touch the windmill, what fun! Too bad, mummy does not carry camera around, miss up all the opportunity to snatch so many precious moment for Qi Ning!

I am myself again!

I was actually very touch as I read the comments left by fellow bloggers in my yesterday entry. Thanks for all the understanding and kindness shown! :) I think the blog world is connecting people in quite a positive way. As I read different blogs and see the encouragement that blogger leave at each other comment box, it goes to show that the world is not as cold as it seems to be!!
Yesterday evening, with all of your kind wishes, my mood begin to change positively. And guess what, I pick up RM 8 from the walkway yesterday evening. Eight is a good number for chinese, I think I am going to "fa" (get rich) this year, hahaha, just my wishful thinking! While driving home, one of my good friend who was my bribe maid called to inform me that she is getting married in October. I was so happy to hear that and I screamed over the phone in the car! I am myself again today after a good night of zzzzzzzzzzz and morever today is friday! Thank you my blogger friends and have a good weekends.

One of those day!!

It is one of those day when you feels like everything is wrong when actually nothing is really wrong, just that you are in such a lousy mood! :( I haven't experienced this for a long time and today I suddenly feel it! Arrgh! trying so hard to shake this feeling aways but it just seems to follow me around!
During lunch, I decided to go for a nice lunch myself, thinking that it might helps to shake me off this lousy mood but even the "hor yet fan" (lotus leaf rice) don't seem to taste as nice as it use to be! (I know is just me, sigh). Not in the mood to work also but I have few cases to attend to and I have to help them to focus on the positive! Oh, how I wish I am not a "da gong ji" (salaried worker) so I can say I am not going work today and just stay home and do whatever I like today, just because I am not in the mood!

"Frustration and Pis (please)!"

Starting last week, I notice that Qi Ning begins to show one other emotion strongly ie frustration/anger beside the usual happy and sad. It happens when I took away the toy that she repeatedly throw on the floor despite being told not to. When I took away the toy, she began to clasp her two hand together and begin to pull as if doing a tug of war with her own two hands, of course couple with protesting cry! Actually, I feel "xin tong" (heart ache) to see her doing that but discipline still need to be in place.
Another very tough situation for me is when she keep saying "pis" (her please) to request for things that she is not suppose to have. For example, last Wednesday evening, we were at church and there were people playing table tennis. She was very excited and during the break, the kind uncle yap let her have a goes at the table tennis by putting her on the table tennis table and give her the bat and the ping pong. she was enjoying it. then later when they resume the game, she gave back the bat and ping pong ball, stood aside and watch them play. Few minute into the game, she began her "pis" request ( we teach her to say "please" when she wanted something), she wanted the ping pong ball, that particular one that is going to and fro the table! She tug at her hands again when her request was not fulfilled and keep on her "pis" repeatedly!! Is hard to refuse when she keep saying "pis". She is at the stage where she begins to know how to demand and make her request known. She sure knows what she want or don't want!
Training and teaching a toddler sure require lots of wisdom and patient! May God grant me both!!

Should I or should I not?

If it is in my earlier day, I won't have to think, the answer will be "yes". Now, I seem to have to think a litlle bit more about my decision.
I was offered a free trip to Korea in April, is a 8day 6 night tour. Am comtemplating of whether to go or not. My first instinct is go, bing Qi Ning with me. Since she is still under two, it won't cost us much to bring her and is easier to bring her now then later since we plan to have more kids! Hubby thinks that if we are going with a tour group, bringing Qi Ning will not be easy as she may not like the long journey on the bus and will be hard to follow the time table of the tour. He reckon is not very feasible to bring toddler to go on tour package, if is free and easy, then ok! He is not sure if he is able to make it during the time or not. I ask for permission to go alone with Qi Ning, he says ok if I really want to. Another of my friend think that I should wait till Qi ning is older then only travel! Most people don't think is a good idea to go on tour with toddler.
Now I am in the dilemma, should I go ahead with the tour or not? I told hubby I really don't mind bringing Qi Ning with me, at least is an experience. Moreever, my sis and her hubby will be on the trip and maybe my parents too. So there will be family members around to help take care of Qi Ning during the trip even if hubby cannot make it. My only concern is if Qi Ning is able to take it with the tour schedule. Also I hope hubby schedule would allow him to go. I like us to go as a family but if not possible, I may still go with Qi ning. Well, I still have some time to consider before making the decision.

Qi Ning Picture at last!

I have been trying to post Qi Ning photo on the blog but was not successful. With some help from my nephew Thompson, yeah, I finally successfully upload Qi Ning's picture. Still trying to learn how to present it in a better way. For the time being, can upload the picture is already very good!

"Hi, everybody finally I make my show!

Happy Valentine day to all"

"My Thompson ge ge (cousin brother) think that I look like Cinderella in this pretty dress, do you all agree? I am going for the big party that the king is throwing for all the singles tonight. You think I will outshine all others in the valentine's party tonight?"

"No, No, No, No"

Yes, you areright, this is my QI Ning favourite word at the moment. Ask her to do anything that she does not want, her response will be "no, no, no, no" and shake her head while saying it! My girl is growing up and exerting her independence liao. So amazing to watch her grow each day.
This CNY, she not only learnt how to say "NO", she also started to count from 1-10. When we say 1, she would say 2, she seems to be able to memorise the sequence. When I first notice her doing that, I thought it was just my imagination. But, we tested her few time over the day and realised that she has indeed memorised the sequence, from 1-10. Few of my friends tested her last Saturday and she passed their test in reciting 1-10. I must say I am amaze by how fast kid learnt!
Is very exciting to see her master new skills, learning new words, doing new stunts. I guess this is the joy of parenthood. I am really happy to have her as my precious daughter!

So fast, CNY holidays over!

Was counting the day to CNY and now CNY is nearly over. Had a really good time except for the two days when I was down with fever and headache!
Our CNY fun started last friday (27/2), we took half day leave and left for my hometown. Glad we did that as those who travel on Sat got stuck in the traffic. Someone I know took 7 hours to reached Sitiawan from KL! Had lunch in my mum's placeo n Sat. Enjoyed the food, Qi Ning tasted the sharpfin soup and commented "good". She had lots of other CNY goodies and her routine is all upside down a little.
After lunch on Sat, we went back to Penang (MIL) for dinner. Reached Penang at about 5pm, traffic was good from Sitiawan to Penang. Qi Ning slept during the journey, which was good, that give her energy to play when we arrived in Penang. She was very happy to see her cousins. They were happy to have her as well and helped to keep her occupied. Just stayed at home most of the time. I am quite happy about it, don't really wanna go out in the hot sun. Stayed in Penang till Wednesday then went back to Sitiawan again.
DH asked me what was the most memorable thing about this new year. I guess is seeing Qi Ning enjoying herself and seeing her mingling so well with her cousins. The not so enjoyable part is the fever and headache during the second and third day of CNY.
I am very grateful that everyone is very understanding. When all is busy in the kitchen, I didn't help at all both in my mum place as well as in my in-laws. I only eat and look after Qi Ning. It was a real treat!
Have learnt how to upload the photo to the blog, will do that in a couple of days time. Is rather busy at the moment.

Chinese New Year Countdown and new clothes

Yippie, tommorrow I am going back hometown for CNY celebration!! I took half day leave tommorow, so can leave earlier, hoping to beat the friday evening jam when every one is balik kampung after work.
When I read many of the mama buying many new clothes for their little one, I feel very the malu leh (shy) as I didn't buy any new clothes for my Qi Ning as she oledi has a few new clothes in the closet which she has never wear before. So I am going to let her wear all those new clothes. And my niece, Juney told dh that she bought new clothes for Qi Ning, there you go so many other people are buying new clothes for Qi Ning. But I guess is different when mummy buy right?! :)
Let me think, so far from birth till now, I think I only bought her a pair of shoes and a set of clothes when she was baby. Others were all bought by others (friends and family members) or hand-me down. I guess that's the bonus for being the youngest in the family, even after you oledi a mum, the older siblings still think you need help, so they will buy and prepare all the necessary for your baby as well! Actually, when I was single, I seldom buy new clothes for myself as well. Usually my sis, my bro and my mum is the one who buy clothes for me. Even till now, my sis and mum would still buy new clothes for me(lucky me)!! My da lou (eldest bro) will supply me with shoes and handbags.
My Qi Ning also very fortunate, friends and family will also buy stuffs for her even people who have not meet her but just saw her photo in my office, decide that she is so cute and will buy little little things for her. The other day, one of the student saw her photo and bought her two beautiful hairclips!! I think she inherited her mum's (i.e me) look, which seem to attract people to buy gifts for her! hehehehe. Come to think of it, even before she was born, I oledi received gift which was meant for her! So blessed!
Zara'a mama asked why I don't post photo of Qi Ning in my blog, so this new year break I will learn how to upload her photo to my blog so you all can also see her cute cute picture hey.
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO ALL AND HAVE A BLESSED REUNION WITH YOUR FAMILY.
Gong Xi, Gong Xi and remember to brinmg your precious one around to "bi nain" (new year visitation) and collect lots of anypow, yea...

Blur sotong & wonderful hubby

I know I am quite a "dai tou har" (blur person) but never thought it can be so bad! Last Saturday, I put the kettle on without the water. That morning, I brought Qi Ning downstairs with me. As soon as came downsatairs, I went on to kitchen and just switch on the kettle without checking if there is any water. I just assumed that dh has filled the water as that is what he does for me every night since the maid left so that it will be easier for me to put the kettle on the next morning.
On Saturday morning, while I was in the bathroom, letting Qi Ning sit on her potty, dh came downsatairs.

DH: You boiled the water already ah?
Me: Ya, I already switch on the gas.
DH: Wow, you so fast ah. What is this that I am smelling? Something burning, did you put any water in the kettle?
Me: Huh, no, I didn't (look sheepish) , I just switch on the gas, I assume you filled it with water. (forgot that I mentioned something about don' t have to fill the kettle last night)
DH: Aiyo, no wonder the burnt smell, lucky I notice it, you didn't smell anything meh?
Me: No woh, I am in the bathroom with little girl mah!
DH: arrgh......!

Good thing dh discoved my act earlier or else I may cause a fire!

That morning, after breakfast, I took Qi Ning to my brother office while dh stays at home. I thought he has some personal things to take care of. I didn't expect him to do spring cleaning, but I was pleasantly surprised when I returned home from my brother office. He has tooked down the curtain, washed them and cleaned up the corner of the house! I felt so touched, such a sweet husband that I have! He is not the romantic type who would sweet talk but he will put it in action such as cleaning up, take the rubbish out, make you a cup of drink, filled the car petrol for me etc.. He do all the practical things to make life easier for me, what more can I ask for?! :)

New maid or no?

It has been two months since our maid ran away from home. So far we have been managing it ok. But lately, dh has been saying that we may need extra help. Guess he is tired as he did quite a fair bit of the household chores and Qi Ning is at the stage where one person need to follow her around constantly. My mum says she is at the stage of "little cow dunno the fear of tiger", literal translation from foochow meaning she dunno the danger and has no fear!
For me, I think I am coping ok without the maid. Of course I am coping better because hubby is the one who does the laudry and cleaning the house!! :) I only wake up a bit earlier to cook porridge for baby and take care of her after work.
To be frank, with a maid, I really live like a "shao nai nai". Morning wake up, breakfast is served, after work, there will be somone to take in my bag and dinner is being cooked while I take my shower. I hardly lift a finger to do house work. I only play with Qi Ning, entertain her. When she poo or pee, the maid would clean up after her. Now either me or dh would have to do that. I don't mind doing all this as it allowed me to experience what it is like to be involved in every aspect of my girl's life. I appreciate the contribution of those stay at home mum and dad even more.
I know many of my friends who migrated oversea also has no maid at home and they are doing ok. I dunno whether is because we are spoilt by the extra help of maid, we are becoming more dependent on them. To our benefit or harm I also dunno!
We have discussed and talk about what are the possible alternative. I told him, with only Qi Ning, I think is till manageable but if no2 comes along then it might not be as easy. I left the decision to him as he is the one doing most of the house work at home now that we don't have maid.

Yea, is CNY soon

This year I am very excited baout CNY, really looking forward to it. I am counting my days when I can go back to my hometown for CNY. We will first go to my mum house for reunion lunch then only travel back to Penang for reunion dinner.
I guess I am the lucky where hubby's hometown and my hometown are not too far apart. If not, susah nak go two place for reunion meals. I remember the first year after I got married, "guai guai" followed hubby home for reunion dinner, but I really miss the reunion meal in my mum place. So second year, clever already, begin to sweet talk hubby to stop by mum's place for lunch before heading to Penang as my hometown is in Sitiawan. We tried it out last year, worked out ok so this year we do the same. Already inform mil, yippie, I get to eat reunion meal in both families, lucky me!

To wean or not to wean?

Two more days Qi Ning is going to be 16 mths old. I have been toying about weaning Qi Ning from breast milk. But the little girl don't seem to be ready to wean. She was on formula milk (one feed) for a while but lately she has totally refused formula milk again! It takes us quite sometime to "train" her to take formula milk. Dunno why she's rejecting it now. If she doesn't reject the formula then I am more ready to wean her, I actually plan to wean her after CNY. But now, seem like got to shelf the idea or else she may not get enough calcium.
Actually in my heart I don't really want to wean her so soon. Is just that many people keep telling me that if I am seriously trying for second one then I better wean her. I know of breastfeeding mothers who conceived without weaning. Hope I am one of those as well, if not I'll alway keep on toying with the idea to wean or not to wean!!

My Sticky Tape

Qi Ning has been a real sticky tape this few days. Even at night when she sleeps, she will roll real close to me. If I attempt to move away from her, she would wakes up! Actually she has always been close to me, just that this few days, maybe because she is not feeling too well she is extra sticky.
When I told my friend that Qi Ning is a sticky tape, one of them reply, "I think is double sided tape" i.e mommy is equally sticky to Qi Ning! :) I think what she says is true. When my maid ran away, my mum actually offer to take care of Qi Ning, if I let her bring Qi Ning back to Sitiawan. Of course my answer is no lah. She actually asked a few time and even asked is it because I don't trust her to be able to take good care of Qi Ning. I told her no is more because "Wo bu sir de" (I can't bear to part with her). Then my mum said, "why so many other people in our hometown would just leave their babies at home and let the grandparents to take care." Told her we are all different lah. My parenting philosophy may be different from theirs, I prefer to take care of my own baby. I don't like to be a weekends mum or holidays mum. I would like to see my precious little one everyday. Little one add so much joy to our life!

Talk about being beautiful

I dunno whether is just Qi Ning or all girls are like this, wanna be beautiful. She is only 15mths and already know what is beautiful. Each time when she see beautiful things, she will reach out her hand to grab it, eapecially all the ladies jewelries. When she meet jiejie or autie with beautiful necklace, bracelets, earings, she will want to touch. And she somehow will notice it even when the blur blur mommy hasn't notice. Sometime the kind autie or jie jie will take out their necklace or braclet to let her wear for a while, you can see her beaming away! One thing good about her is that she knows that don't belong to her, after a while you ask her to give back she will be willing to give back.
At home she into all my lotion and cream. Whenver she sees me applying the cream and lotion, she would want to do just the same.
Sometime, when she cries, I just put a ribbon on her head and distract her "See, Qi Ning so pretty with the ribbon" she stop crying liao!

Qi Ning the thinker!

On Monday, we went to Subang Parade for lunch with a friend whom I have not seen for the past two year. This was the first time she met Qi Ning. She commented that Qi Ning seem to be a thinker because Qi Ning will be looking at her, observing her and from Qi Ning's eyes, can see as though she seem be processing what she observed.
Many people have commeted about Qi Ning being a thinker after meeting her for a first time. I do notice that very often she seem to process through thing in her mind. To me I thought that what all toddlers do anyway. Maybe is just her careful nature. Whenever she meet a new person, she will scan you thorough and observe you first before she decide to play with you. When you say something to her, especially when she is unsure, she will give you the kind of look that seem to say, I am thinking about what you are saying.
Yesterday, Qi Ning started to jump off the sofa. She will stand on the edge of the sofa and then jump from the sofa to the mattress on the floor just next to the sofa. Is quite dangerous if she does that unsupervise, even supervise is still dangerous. Dh say I must not allowed her to do that. I hope she will forget about the trick and won't jump again today. Or else mummy will have heart attack seeing her jump!
She is quite good with words nowadays, whatever new words that we want to teach her, she will repeat after us. New words that she has learnt lately.
1. Good night (she will say night night, her pronouciation for good is still not very accurate)
2. Dirty ( she will add on eer dirty, because that is what mummy will say as well :)
3. Turkey, duck, chicken, obstrict (nearby my house there is a little farm with some animals, papa has been bringing her there)
4. Gong Xi (CNY is near so have to teach the magic words so can get more ang pou!! hehehehe)
5. Thank you become "tan q"
6. Please become "bees"
7. Uncle & Auntie
Is amazing to see her developement day by day.Things that she learnt and stunt that she does. Papa, mama have to be careful with what we do in front of her nowadays as she learn so fast. The pther day, I was using a sharpener to sharpen the color pencil in front of her, the next day she does just the same! Talk about copy cat!! :)
