Year end post

I have been so slack in updating my blog, some thought I have gave up blogging. No, I haven't give up on blogging only have been busy and lazy to update my blog that's all. But will try ot update my blog more for the coming year.
Didn't know why this time near the year end, I feel so restless, like not sure what to do even though I have lots on my hand to complete but I just feel very restless!
My two girls are growing up fine. Have to post some of their recent photo soon.

Classic answer by Qi YU

Lately, Qi Yu has been giving quite a few candid remark which is worth recording.
This took place last week (10Nov) when I heard that my grandma pass away. Me, Qi ning and Qi Yu was in the sitting room.
Me:"Tua Ma" pass away oledi.
Qi Ning:You sad or not?
Me: Of course I feel sad.
Qi Ning: Why you feel sad?
Me: Because I don't get to see her anymore.
Qi Yu: (She came and sat my lap) Mummy don't be sad ok, I got two "poh poh", I give you one, so you don't be sad ok!
How sweet of her!

On sunday, we went out for lunch with some friends after church. Across the hawker centre, there were monkeys kept by one pakcik so Qi ning and Qi Yu wanted to go across to see Si Merah. They invited aunt Karen to go along. Aunt Karen pretend to me afraid.
Karen: Aunty scare
Qi Yu: Don't be scare, I am here!
Heheehe, isn't she sweet!

After lunch some friend came over to my house, Qi ning packed some mangoes and ranbutans for a friend. Qi Yu saw the rambutans and starts taking the rambutans. Ranbutans is one of her favourite fruits.
Qi Ning: See mummy, Qi Yu take aways Si Si jiejie's rambutans
Me: Qi Yu that's for si si jie jie, don't take ok we still have rambutans ata home.
Qi Yu: No mummy, i saw ants on the rambutans and I only chase the ant aways!
See how fast her response is.
Is really a joy to see the wo girls growing up. Really love them heaps.

Upset!

Dunno why these people want to have replacement class during semester break, upset! Supposed to set off for a week break tommorrow, to visit my parents and then my in law, now has to cancel it all because my lecturer want a make up class this friday!
Arrgh....

I can ride by myself!

Qi Yu knows how to pedal the bicycle by herself now! Yesterday we went for a ride. Usually, mummy is the one pull her along but yesterday, she starts to peddle by herself. She still need help in handling the bicycle handle so that it would goes in the striaght line and not side way but I am glad to see her cyling by herself!

Flower girl

This Saturday (8/8) is one of my good friend's wedding and Qi ning is gonna be her flower girl! This little girl of mine is so excited and is counting her day that she will walk down the ailse before the bride! Girl will always be girl, loves to look pretty!

Breakfast in Bed!

I have read and seem on movie about breakfast in bed and about 3 weeks ago, my dear daughter make it come true in my life. I have mean to blog about it but somehow forgotten!
I was reading the book to my two girls about "When I am sick, mummy did this and that for me...and the boy was well, he make breakfast for mummy." So Qi ning was telling me that she want to make breakfast for me.
Lo and behold, one morning she woke me up from sleep and show me the tray that she has brought up for me. It was a cheese sandwich! We sat on the bed and ate the snadwich together. Qi Yu saw what her jie jie did and went down stair and prepare breakfast for mummy as well! So sweet of them. Mummy is all ear when thinking of the sweet acts that the girls perform! :)

All I want for Christmas is my four front teeth...

Whenever i look at the four front teeth on Qi Yu's mouth, I can't help feeling the tint of guilt on my part for neglecting her oral hygiene from baby. I have left it to the maid to clean her teeth when she was younger. But many time when she closed her mouth tight and refused to be clean, the maid never told us. So by the time when i noticed the erosion on her teeth and asked the maid if she wash Qi yu's teeth her answer was "Qi Yu tak mahu!"
That was when she was about 1 year old, I did send her to see dentist when i notice that her teeth was kind of eroding but the dentist say not to worry. We have been bringing the kids for dental check up every so often ever since. But nothing will help her four front teeth oledi. Now her upper four front teeth has decayed and dentist said has to wait as there is nothing so can do at the moment.
Last night, i heard this little girl of mine pray that god will help her teeth to drop soon! I asked her to pray that her permanent teeth tol grow soon only then the four decay one will fall off.
Qi ning oledi had two permament teeth even though she is not five yet! Hopefully, Qi Yu four front teeth will also grow qiucker than usual!

Swimming Lesson

I have been thinking of sending Qi Ning for swimming lesson for quite some time but never actually get to do it. Since we have been going swimming very often lately, I saw a swimming coach teaching people swimming at the Condo where I took Qi Ning and Qi Yu for a swim every now and then. So hubby asked me to check him out so last Saturday we started the first lesson for Qi Ning. She really enjoyed it.
I must say that I am really thankful that God has provided this coach, I don't need to send her far, just to the condo across the road where a friend is staying! And he seem to be quite good with children. He even brough a fin for Qi ning to try. I am pleased with the first session!

Prayer

Everynight before we sleep, we tend to pray and ask for a goodnight of rest. And also to pray for special needs as it arise, maybe for someone who is sick or special requests. I remember in April when i was bogged down by assignments, I asked the girls to pray that mummy will do her homework aka assignment well. And lately, I have heard Qi Yu prayed this prayer before she sleeps quite frequently. She would actually knelt down to pray! Bless her heart.
"Dear Jesus, please help mummy do her homework well so that she could be Dr. Ling and no more Ling Mee Chooi". When i hear this i couldn't help but laugh, it indeed brings joy and encouragemen to me as i plough on in my studies.
Really appreciate the girls for putting up with the time when mummy have to do homework and can't play with them and for hubby to take on the responsibility of taking care of the girls when i have to rushed to complete assignments! I guess with their support, i will have to be discipline to finish it up fast! Love them all.

Holidays

Since my last exam on 8 May, i have been going for a few holidays. My plan to do literature review for my thesis has been delayed. Two weekend ago we went to Fraser hill, last wednesday we went to Penang to meet one of my SIL and her family,whom we have not seen for more than a year. Her two kids are about the same age as my two girls.
Took the kids to Penang hill. Qi Ning asked "Is it because we are children, the cable cars are not in the air (she is refering to those cable car at Genting) this is more safe"
Qi Yu nowadays starts to mimic mummy in emphasising the sound of the words. Since I teach Qi ning phonics, I try to emphasize teh sound of the words, and Qi Yu is picking that up from me. Sometime she will tell me, "Mummy, I am Sa..d." and this little girl of mine likes to call me "mum" when she is in her cheery mood. She will be "hi mum" here and there!
Two weeks time, we will be travelling to Ho Chih Min City. This will be our last trip before my semester starts again!

Discpline

Ever since my last exam in May 8, i have been so slack in my PhD study. Have planned to do more literature review during this long semester break but so far I have not done very much. Is always giving myself excuses to start tommorow sigh! No wonder my lecturer always say when one come to Phd level, is no longer about how inteligent one is but how discipline one is. Hopefully I am discipline enough to finish my study!

Nen Nen Crave

It has been more then two weeks now that Qi Yu is off my breast but I think there are time she really misses it. Last night, before she sleep, the following conversation took place:
Qi Yu: "Mummy, your nipple still painor not?"
Mummy: No, it is well already, Qi Yu prayed that Jesus would heal mummy's nipple isn't it?" (She prayed for me in the first few day when i wean her off by showing her my cracked nipple)
Qi Yu: "Mummy, can i nen nen?
Me: "No, Mummy nen nen dry up already.
Qi Yu: "Why your nen nen dry up?"
Me: "Because Qi Yu big girl alreday, can drink cow milk".
Qi Yu:(begins to cry) "No, I am still a baby, i want nen nen!"
I have to distract her for a while before she stop crying. Poor girl, still craving for mummy's nen nen!

Successful in weaning

I have finally wean my Qi Yu off the breast since mid-April. In the past, whenever I tell her to wean she would protest so I have been checking with her every now and then, just to see if she is ready. Everytime her response to my request to weaning is negative so i thought it would be hard for me to wean her. ANd I notice that it is more for comfort nursing then anything else that she want to continue nursing.
Somewhere in mid-April, i show her my cracked nipple and told her that mummy pain pain and nipple need to rest for a day. So she sort of understand and hubby suggest to give her pacifier. She took it without much fuss, though she didn't really like the pacifier, she was just playing with it in her hand. throughtout the night, she did try to come near me asking for "nen nen" but I told her no. she was ok with the answer. the second night before sleep, she pray that Jesus would come and heal mummy nipple! :) She is still thinking of nursing. By that time I was so engrossed that I was so tempted to nurse her, I ask her if it is ok that i let her nurse for this one time and no more, of course she wants it but hubby remind me that if i want to wean her off, i shouldn't tempt her. So i did not carry out my i offer to her. She had a little fuss about it, crying for her nen nen and i felt so bad for tempting her! bad mummy. And from there on ward, she has been off my breast for good! It was much easier that i expected, hurray! So all in all, I have nurse her for 2 years four months!
I fund that she sleeps better after i wean her because she don't wake up middle of the night that much to look for her feed!

Brief moment

I have been away from the blogsphere for the last few months. Was sooooo busy despite the fact that I am not working full time! I took four paper for my PhD class, started home schooling my girl, all beginning this year, that's why I am sooooo busy! I sure miss blogging about my girls development and hopping aorund people's blog. Today, I give my self a break and do some light blogging. since I have done most of my assignment, still about two more to go but the dead line is not so soon.
Next week, we are going for a holidays, to Guangzhou for 6 days all together. I am looking forward to the break and then come back to face the exam!
My two girls are growing up real fast, Qi Ning is very independent now and she is learning well. She has asked me for baby brother. Qi Yu still want to be called "baby" even though she is oledi 28months old. She still refused to be weaned. overall, she is also quite independent. toilet trained for the day time, but still working on it for the night. some nights, she will be dry some night she will wet her daiper, I am too lazy to wake up at night to bring her to pee so still let her waer her daiper. but at time she will wake me up to bring her to toilet.
Both girls are "competing" with each other and the younger one is always imitating what the jiejie is doing! Is real fun to see them growing up together.

My thoughts

In a few days time, it will be CNY oledi somehow this year, I am still not in the CNY mood yet. Maybe because I still have to attend classes on Saturday and still having assignments hanging over my head! Also didn't buy any new clothes for my girls yet but i heard form my niece that the gugu has bought for them! Lucky me, having all the different family members doing all the CNY shopping for me.
Even though now I only go to office two days a week, my time seems to be occupied. I started home schooling Qi ning and she is getting used to me teaching her. Of course is still a challenge for me to learn all the phonics myself first before teaching her. And Qi Yu sometime would sits in the class but at time she would "disturb" the class by insiting that mummy carry her!
I quite like the current arrangement, which give me more time with the children. Only thing is that I need to be more discipline so that I can get my PhD study going or else i think it will take me a long long time to complete. I am working hard to be discipline myself.
