Two more days to go and is going to be chinese New Year! I am excited, waiting to balik kampung so is Qi Ning. She has been telling people that we going to Ah Ma house. Will be going back to my mum's house tomorrow and then to my in-law on the eve after we had our reunion lunch at my mum.
I just love to be around family members, be it my own family or hubby side of family. I always said if I am any younger I would love to have four kids but due to age constraint, I am contented with two.
This is to wish evryone a very happy and blessed new year!

I can feed myself!

Hey everyone, see I am a big girl now, I can feed myself.

Sickly

The germs are flying round, finding preys to attack. My two girls took turn to fall sick last week. First it was Qi Ning, down with fever and vomit. Fortunately, fever and vomit subside after one day. Is easier with Qi ning as she would take her medication without any fuss and she would co-operate with us when we need to take her temperature or feed her medication.
On Saturday, Qi Yu started to have fever. Oh boy, is hard to feed Qi Yu medication. She fight with us when come to time for medication, we had no choice but to force thru the paracertamol. Obviously, she would cries so pitifully. She even refuse for us to take her temperature. She is very clingy and at time crancky for the whole weekend. Refusing to eat, drink and even sleep! She just want to be carried by mummy! When the medication take effect, the fever subside, she would play for a while. Other time she just want to be held. The fever comes and goes, yesterday evening, she also vomitted, fever subside after that. So far so good, her fever has not return. Hubby theory is that all the germs are out with the vomit so she is on her road to recovery. With the germs all out, may my two girls continue to grow healthily. Kesian to see them fall sick!

She calls me Mummy!

Qi Yu has been calling papa, jiejie, porpor and all other people for the longest time. Occasionally I have hear her saying mum but wasn't sure if she was refering to me. But lately, I have heard her calling me mummy but still not very often. Yesterday, upon reaching home from work, my maid brought her to the gate to meet me and I heard her calling me "mummy"! What a joy, now I know she is calling me for sure. My maid also heard and commented that "QI Yu sudah tahu panggil mummy ya! "
Qi Yu is at the stage of learning to speak and she is picking up more and more words each day and she is very keen to learn. She would repeat words after us. She can even say bubbles now as she loves to play with bubbles during bath time!
Is a real joy to see her grow each day, every little milestone brings much joy to my heart. Oh how I loves to see my little girl develop each day. Such is the joy of parenthood!

Eeeehh

I can't believe it but I saw it with my own eyes! Is not a pleasant sight and I was shocked to see it. I wonder how did she get it. What is it that I saw? Any guess? ......... eeerk, is a big worm that I saw two days ago when I was cleaning up for QI Ning after her poo poo. I quickly call my Pead and she said is quite rare for kids in urban area to have worm morever we don't keep any animals as pet, only gold fish. She ask about my maid's hygiene and sadly I have to say that her hygiene is not something we are not proud of. So the Pead told me to give the de-worm medication to the maid as well. Sigh, I guess I need to monitor her hygiene more closely now. My sis-in-law just told me on the weekend before not to let my maid prepare any meals for my kids as she also notice that my maid hygiene is not up to the mark.
Hopefully after the de worm medication no more worm. I really hope QI yu is not infested by the worm as well.

Qi Yu is 14 months old

My baby is 14 months old today. So how is this precious girl of my doing. Here are some of her vital statistic.
Weight: 9 kg
Height: 76 cm
Mobility: crawl really fast and started to walk, few step at a time since last week. She loves to push a chair and walk around
Dextirity: She can feed herself with a spoon now, of course craeting a mess as well! :) She loves to copy her jiejie when she see Qi Ning drawing or coloring. She would also ask for a pencil and start scibble on paper.
Speechwise, she definitely understand more than she speaks. New words that I am hearing her are porpor (grandma), car, cold cold, cat, gorgor (elder bro), somemore can't remmeber.
Now that she is beginning to walk, she also starts to "dance". she would stand up on her two feet and start swaying her body as if doing a dance. When asked if she is dancing, she will say "uhm, uhm" her way of saying yes.
Foodwise, she is taking three meals a day. When she doesn't like certain food she would not open her mouth and even if she had taken a bite she would still spit it out! Whenever we are eating, she will demand that we feed her too!
She is still fully on breastmilk. I am trying to introduce milk powder to her but she does not like it. In fact she refuse to drink it, so would drink one or two mouth full then pass the bottle to her sister. Sigh, that mean mummy cannot stop expressing mik. Mummy is getting lazy in expressing milk at work and is thinking of weaning her off the breast. With her refusing powder milk, mummy will still have to continue to be a moo. Hopefully she would take on the milk powdersoon!
She is observing everything that Qi Ning is doing. Nowadays, she knows that sweet can be eaten as she had seen Qi Ning unwrapping the sweet and put it in her mouth. So if we give her a sweet nowadays, she would make demand for us to unwrap it for her. Getting harder to trick her oledi, she is getting smarter!
She still loves her bath time and still dislike her carseat. Often will have to find ways to get her sit in her carseat without making a fuss. So far, we have use cornflakes, raisins & biscuit to keep her in her carseat.
Qi Yu is a loving girl, she would give hugs and kisses freely. Is such joy to see her grow each day. I do loves her dearly.

Exciting year ahead

So fast, another year coming to an end. Tomorrow is a beginning of new year and there are new challenges awaiting me in 2008.
Hubby is venturing into his own business in 2008, lots of uncertainty ahead, as a wife, I must and I want to give him all the support that he need. I pray that all will go well.
Hubby also has been encouraging me to further my study so I may apply to do my PhD in 2008. A decision that I had been delaying for so many years. I have filled in the application form, buy the bank draft, write my proposal, now only left submitting the application form only. ANd I am still half hearted, should I or should I not go for it.
Whatever it is , is gonna be an exciting year ahead, with God by my side, what is there to fear? Here is to wish everyone a very blessed year ahead. May the love, joy & peace of God abound richly with each of everyone. Happy 2008!

Caroling

Carolling is part of our church Christmas event. Few nights before Christmas day, we will be going round to houses that are open for us to sing carol. Last year Qi Yu was still a new born (1 mth plus) when we took her along with us for her first Christmas carol. This year she is 13mths oledi. Qi Ning enjoy carolling because she get lots of sweet or candy! We the carollers get to feast on all the yummies food that the host prepare for us after the carol!
Last night one of the host cook spagheti for us. On the way home, we were yakking away. Then I ask Qi Ning if she enjoy her spagheti just now (she loves spagheti). Her answer melt my heart hehehe. She says "Mummy, your spagheti is better." See, so young oledi know how to "ambil hati"!
Saturday was "tong zhi" but I didn't make any "tang yuan" I only mentioned to Qi Ning about the festival so she ask me what is "tang yuan". This lazy mummy tell her will make "tang yuan" for her when she grow up a little bit more! :) Luckily she didn't have to wait for long as the host last night also have "tang yuan"as dessert!
I am so much in a holidays mood since last friday, here is to wish everybody a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

I want to be like you

It is a big responsiblity to be parents. The litttle one is watching what you are doing and following every bit of what parents are doing. My Qi Ning has been imitating me quite a fair bit and she doesn't hestitate to tell me that she wanna be like me! I often has to remind myself to try to be a good role model in every aspect for the sake of the kids who want to be like me and is real hard at time. I guess being a parent is a life long learning process!
I can see clearly how Qi Ning is following some of my way of teaching her. Qi Ning has been playing with stickers for quite sometime now and she has many book of stickers. some Winnie the Pooh, mickey mouse, snow white, and all the walt disney cartoon stickers. She loves to dish out to people and stick it all over the room's door, the dressing mirror etc. Can't remeber since when, she begins to use it as a reward. If you will to follow her instruction she would give you sticker. Sometime she will tell me, "Mummy, you listen to me and I will give you sticker, if you don't listen, I don't give you sticker!" (sound so familiar ya!) Whatever things that I have told her, she would use it on us as well.
Just last night, when we were all getting ready to sleep, hubby n I were chatting away softly on the bed. This little girl of mine start to give us instruction "Is time to sleep, sleep lah, don't talk." So really need to be careful what one say to the little one, you never know when they will use it on you! :) Such joy to be able to experience parenthood!

Thirteen Months

My baby is growing up fast. Qi Yu is now 13mths & 3 days old. This little girl of mine is a very determine girl. Once she set her mind on something, she would find her way to get it even at such a young age. She is very clingy at this stage, whenever I am around, she only wants me. If I go out of her sight she would make a fuss.
Foodwise, I am allowing her to eat some of what we are eating especailly when we are out holidaying, otherwise she is still having her home cook porridge. She doesn't like to eat egg nowadays. When she doesn't like certain food she would push it out with her tongue. She loves to feed herself. So we let her practise self feeding using finger food. We give her biscuit, sliced fruits to feed herself etc. Sometime, she would feed the food to her toys as well! :) She has seven teeth now.
She loves to follow whatever her jie jie is doing. When her jie jie is coloring , she would also gesture for us to give her paper and color pancil. even those she can't speak, she would gesture for us to give her what she wants. She use her finger to point to whatever she want and when we give her the right item she would answer "ehm,ehm,ehm". If is not something that she wnats, she would shake her head.
Qi Yu is not taking many bold step yet, she is still cruising a lot and prefer to crawl. I have seen her take one step then quickly sit down for few time oledi. She could stand on her own for quite a long time.
Her favourite game for the past two months have been "peek a boo". Whoever play that with her, she would laugh so heartily and excitedly. She is such a joy to have, I really loves her dearly.

Good ole time

It has been quite some time since I last blog and go blog hopping. Have been rather busy and was away for training and holidayings as well. Went back to my hometown for about a week. Wow, is rambutan season there, I wallop so much of rambutans. every morning, first thing after I wake up is going to backyard for my rambutans feast! This brought back so much childhood memory. Too bad I didn't have my camera as hubby took with him to China. My two girls were thrill with being able to just pluck the rambutans off the tree. My mum have two rambutans tree at home, one in front of the house and one at the backyard.
They both love going round to see the chickens, ducks..etc that are running around the neighbourhood. Show my girls durian tree, pineapple plant, went to Teluk batik etc. Of course also enjoyed eating the local delicacies.
Was good to meet up with one of my childhood friend who is also my neighbor in hometown. Usually during school holidays she would have brought her children to Singapore but this time round she was home. So we had good time together and our children were playing together quite a bit.
My sis and her family was also home during those time. So all the kids were having fun with each other. Qi Ning keep referring to my sis three sons as her prince! :) My little niece prefer to stick with us rather than her parents so my sis and her hubby is able to enjoy 2 people's world! This is the first time that I am able to spent such a long time in hometown (23-29Nov). Enjoyed every bit of it just like the good ole time. My two girls also enjoyed themselves very much, we may be heading back again this weekend, hurray!

Happy birthday to Me

Yea, I turn one year old on Wednesday. Actully my birthday is very easy to remember wan, 7 Eleven, easy or not. And daddy & mummy wedding anniversary is only one day after my birthday. So this year they decide to take me on holidays for my birthday. I got a feeling they may mark these days as a yearly holidyas for the family! My jie jie sing birthday song for me on stage in one of the cafe. And we also had cakes at Secret Recipe. I still dunno how to blow the candles but I really enjoyed eating the cakes.
I am happy to be one year old because I am no longer a baby and mummy will allow me to eat more variety of the adult food which I have been dying to try. All this while I can only watch jie jie eat and mummy will say I am still a baby cannot eat. SO now that I am no longer a baby I hope she will be more relax with me when it come to food.
At one year old, I can understand a lot more but I still can't speak yet, except the few words. I can stand but I am still not brave enuf to start my baby step by myself. I have six strong teeth that can even chew the nut that was hidden in the cake that auntie nelly fed me on my birthday without realising it till mummy saw me chewing away!
I am beginning to fight with my jie jie for toys and am jealous when she is close to mummy. I sometime will push her away from mummy and mummy will tell me not to be so selfish as she loves both me and jie jie. When I can't win the battle with jie jie, I will cry so loud then, mummy or daddy will intervene! hehehe this is my secret strategy but sometime it don't work.
I am quite a determined person and people often comment that I have a cheecky smile. I love to play & love bath time. whenever I see water, I just wanna jump down and swim but mummy will hold me so tight!

Beautiful Me!

My hair is growing longer each day and Mummy bought me lots of hairclip. The above is just part of my beautiful collection and I loves each of them. Each morning I have such hard time to choose which hairclip to wear so I decide that I should wear as many as I can on my head. Don't you think they are so beautiful? :) But to my dismay, many people tells me that is not nice to wear so many hairclip at one time. Initially, mummy also says the same but later she tells me is also quite nice, it looks like a crown on my head. I have been wearing my "crown" for the past few weeks but often got mixed comments from people who see me with my special crown. I am undecided now whether I should follow the crowd's advise to only wear one or two piece or follow my own sense of fashion, to wear all my beautiful hairclip at one time. Sigh, why people can't leave me to do as I please? Mummy say I can choose to wear all or wear one or two, is beautiful anyway, you think she is bias or not? Can someone pls give me your comments? :)

Picnic at Botanical Garden Putrajaya

During Hari Raya break we didn't balik kampung, we took the girls to Putrajaya Botanical Garden for a picnic. Qi Ning have read many books on picnic and have been talking about going to picnic with me many time. I have been telling her I will take here picnic till now. So here is just a lazy mummy style of picnic. Sandwiches, potato chip (Qi Ning's favourite) , hotwater and all the three in one drink, milo, coffee and also campbell instant soup mix! hehehe. To be healthy, I included some celery and carrot stick! Daddy prefer to have maggi mee on the cup so we brought that for picnic as well. I purposely bring along the red table cloth for picnic as well. See Qi Ning and Qi Yu looking on as my friends lay out the picnic goodie!

Since is a garden, with plenty of space to run about, a beach ball for Qi ning to run with is a must. We did lots of walking round and eating as well. We went there quite early and went home about eleven just before the hot sun at noon. When we were first there there were hardly anyone but as we leave, we saw more people around.

Such easy and yet enjoyable trip for kids to enjoy their day. We all went back for a good snooze that afternoon after all the walking and running! :)

Three classic of Phuket

We went to Phuket for a holidays early this month (1-4 October). It was Qi Yu first trip on the plane and she seems to like it. Nowadays when we ask her how the aeroplane fly, she would stretch out her hand and make the "ogu..." sound. This time round, Qi Ning was a bit frightened as she saw the buildings and things on the ground become smaller as the flight takes off. I guess her imagination just run wild. So for the whole flight journey, she was not able to rest well. On the way from the airport to the hotel, she had car sickness when the car starts going round and round up the hill. So first day in Phuket we didn't do much just stay in the hotel. Qi Ning had fever that night and was vommiting. Second morning she was ok so we went for city tour but half way through, she is not well again so we went back to the hotel and get her to sleep. On the third morning, she wakes up well and we went to the beach. Both of them had so much fun. The evening we booked to go for the Fantasea dinner and show. We only spent an hour or so at the ebach and went back hotel for the kids to sleep so that they will be well rested for the night events.

While they slept in the afternoon, we all take turn to go for our traditional thai message. It was good. Took the girls for a swim at the hotel's swimming pool. They both enjoyed the swim.

The Fantasea show is grand and the place is kinda of like funfair. Too bad our camera run of memory so didn't take many photo at the Fantasea. Saw baby tiger drinking milk from bottle while tourist take photo with them . This of course has to pay lah. I kesian the baby tiger because the keeper would shove the milk bottle into the baby tiger's mouth and let the tourist hold it n take photo. Elephant rides are also available there.

If you miss the Fantasea you miss Phuket so the saying goes. So I am only posing the momento photo, one on the aeroplane, one on the beach and one while at the Fantasea!

Sendimental

I guess Qi Ning is quite a sendimental girl. Whenever she come across a sad song or story she would tear easily. Few night ago, as we were getting ready to bed, she was singing the "小燕子”song. As she was singing I notice that her eyes suddenly turn red and I see tears flowing down her check. Hubby quickly hug her and she said she so sad。
The song is about a little swallow who seem to be homeless and not was not sure where is the papa & mama swallow and the little swallow was crying.
I think this little girl of mine begin to think of herself as the little swallow. So hubby has to quickly comfort her and tell her that we both loves her and her home is in Bukit Puchong. Such sendimental girl she is.

Over due- 11mth old

Well, Qi Yu is 11month 1 week plus old now. Mummy wanted to post a belated milestone and a recent photo of her and mummy when we were at Phuket for holidays. The photo was taken on oct 3, four day before her 11 month. We were having buffet dinner at the Fantasea show compounds in Phuket. More story of that later.

At 11mths, these are some new happening with my darling Qi Yu

- two more teeth on the upper jaw

-can pull herself up and stand without support

-will follow simple instruction such as clap hand, give the book to Mummy etc

Emotion wise, she is not so stanger shy nowadays. At least she don't cry when she see stranger now. But is still reluctant to let people hold her. Only those who are close to her is allowed to touch her but at least she don't cry now, she just hide her face from people that she don't want to "see". She knows who is who by name. When we call out a name, she would sometime point to the person or at time just turn her eye towars the person. She is beginning to be a copy cat, copying what her jiejie is doing. She seem to be able to judge if people are angry with her by people's tonation. Whenever I rise my voice when she bite me during nursing, she would cry. Sometime I was not even scolding her, was just telling her in a firm tone. She would starts tearing pitifully!

She seem to be very aware of her surrounding. She knows when we were on holidays and try to wiggle out of her routine nap during our recent trip to Phuket.

Food wise, she is still fully on breast milk. Her milk in take during day time has increased to 7 ounce a day. And is still nursing throughtout the night. She loves solid and like to eat whatever we are eating. When she sees us eat, her mouth will start moving and will pull my hand that is holding food towards her. She will be saying "mum mum". Weight wise she is still around 8.5kg and height wise she looks taller but I have not measure her.

Her bowel movement is regular nowaday. During the day time, I am starting to toilet train her for 2-3 hours a day but putting her to the potty on a regular interval and she seem to be doing ok. So sometime, if I am taking her to do grocery shopping or to the church or 1-2 hours trip, I will not put her on daiper and she is doing fine thus far. Of course got accident lah one or two time but I am quite happy with the success rate thus far.

She is quite a happy baby and I love her smile but she can also scream so loud. That's my baby Qi Yu, whom love dearly!

Qi Ning Birthday Photo

Mummy has been busy lately so hasn't been up to date in posting. Here are some picture of Qi Ning 3 year old birthday photo and brief up date of my girl's development. The first photo was on sunday before her birthday. Uncle Yap bought her the cake to celebrate with all the September baby in the church. The other two was on the actual day, a simple celebration at home. She got what she want, a cake with strawberry decro!

At three, she is more conversant and really exert her independent. She is picking up more on her Mandarin and speaking more Mandarin nowadays.

She could color within the line now and she loves to sings and dance. She could sit down and read books on her own and tell story. She is learning to make up story line. Getting naughty as well. Hsd to be firm in discipline. She is showing the traits of human falleness and she knows. So somethime, she would pray that Jesus would grant her self-control.

Her favoutites things now are hair-clips. She wanna tie her hair in different ways and clip her hair with different types of hair clip. She would notice how other people tie thier hair and wanted to follow suite. She is really into wanting to be beautiful all the time and will feel jealous when other looks beautiful. Girl will always be girl I guess! May she grows more beautifully each day not only in appearance but in her character!
