Qi Ning Birthday Photo

Mummy has been busy lately so hasn't been up to date in posting. Here are some picture of Qi Ning 3 year old birthday photo and brief up date of my girl's development. The first photo was on sunday before her birthday. Uncle Yap bought her the cake to celebrate with all the September baby in the church. The other two was on the actual day, a simple celebration at home. She got what she want, a cake with strawberry decro!
At three, she is more conversant and really exert her independent. She is picking up more on her Mandarin and speaking more Mandarin nowadays.
She could color within the line now and she loves to sings and dance. She could sit down and read books on her own and tell story. She is learning to make up story line. Getting naughty as well. Hsd to be firm in discipline. She is showing the traits of human falleness and she knows. So somethime, she would pray that Jesus would grant her self-control.
Her favoutites things now are hair-clips. She wanna tie her hair in different ways and clip her hair with different types of hair clip. She would notice how other people tie thier hair and wanted to follow suite. She is really into wanting to be beautiful all the time and will feel jealous when other looks beautiful. Girl will always be girl I guess! May she grows more beautifully each day not only in appearance but in her character!

Birthday Coming

It will be Qi Ning birthday in two days time. this little girl of mine has been waiting for her birthday. She wanted a cake with strawberry as decro. Luckily didn't demand for a party but we are going to have a simple celebration for her anyway.
Is funny that when we the adult wanna remain young while the little one wanna be a grown up quicker. When ask how old she is now, she wanna tell people she is four instaed of three just because she wanna be a grown up!

10 months old

Time flies, my baby Qi Yu is oledi 10 months old. Qi Yu is a playful baby and she has quite a strong mind of her own. At such young age, she oledi show her strong will. If she wants something, she will find her way to get it and if you take it away from her she would cry.
Qi Yu does not like to sit down very much. Is always a struggles to put her in her carseat, high chair and stroller. So each time before we want to put her to her seat, we will need to tell her way in advance that she needs to sit down nicely. At time she still struggles but after the intial struggle she would settle down if we prepare her in advance.
She is still having the four teeth, two up and two lower jaw. She is an expert in crawling now and is cruising when holding on to something. She loves to climb from the floor up to sofa and also from our bed to QI ning's bed. She is pro in climbing. She trying to stand without holding on to things and I have seen her doing that a few time. She could stand on her own without holding on to anything for about 5 seconds.
Language wise, she is able to understand simple intruction. Eg, when daddy ask her to pick up the mickey mouse toy and give to mummy verbally, she will do as instruct. Since she like to climb up and down the bed and sofa, I have been teaching her the safe way to come down beds and sofa. I told her and at the same time help her to put her leg down first. Lately, I notice that when she wanna climb down form the bed or sofa. she is put her leg down first. She seems to be able to understand simple instruction quite well. She loves the song "if you happy and you know it clap your hand." Whenever I sing this song to her she would clap her hand excitedly.
She enjoys going to playground more nowaday. Every evening when we take her and Qi Ning to playground, she would start to kick his legs when she saw the swing. She loves sitting on the swing and will laugh and scream so happily whenever she is in it.
She is quite a talkative baby, babbling away in her own language. the only three words that we can make out of it often enough is "baba, mama, baobao". she seem to understand that conversation with other means that each take turn to talk. She would babble in her ugh ah ugh ah for a while then stop, waiting for any of us to response and then she would reply again. So cute.
Like mummy, she like to eat. Whenever she see us eat, her mouth will be moving as if she is eating and her hand will be pulling my hand for foods. Every morning she will have breakfast with us. Sometime I will let her have some bread dip in breat milk but most day is an eggyolk with breast milk. In between she may have a fruit sometime is half a kiwi, orange, banana, apple, papaya, dragon fruit, mango depending what is available during the time. Her milk intake during the day is still very low, only 5ounce in a day. but at night she keeps wanting me to nurse her. She will have her afternoon porridge or cereal when she wakes up from her nap. Dinner she will heve porridge while we have our dinner.
She take 2 or 3 nap during the day depending on the length that she sleep during the nap. Each nap is between 30mins to 2 hours. She would ratehr play than sleep anytime! At night she would play at least half an hour after light off before she is willing to doze off. She would roll here and there, do her free fall stunt, ugh ah ugh ah til she is happy then only will she lie down and sleep.
What else could I say about my precious Qi Yu but that I am thankful to have her, a playful and cheeky baby!

Competition

My baby girl now know how to compete with her sister Qi ning for mummy's attention. Each time when she see me holding Qi ning, she would definitely crawl towards me and wnat me to hold her as well. Every now and then Qi Ning would complain "mummy why you carry Qi Yu and don't carry me?" And sometime she will tell me "I am angry already you don't carry me!" Sometime she would tell me she want to be carry like how I carry Qi Yu and she would act like a baby. I try to give her as much attention as I can but I guess it is not the same as when she was the only child at home!
Qi Yu is very clingy nowadays, whenever I am around, she would clingy to me and not want any other people to carry her. Qi Yu is able to understanding a fair bit of our conversation. For example, when I told my maid to look after Qi Yu while to go to do something, she would quitely turn around and grab hold of me tightly! They are learning so fast.

Cinderella

One month from today shall be Qi ning three year old birthday. And she has been waiting for her birthday since DH's birthday in April. Each time when we celebrate someone's birthday, she will be asking "is my birthday coming soon?"
Today, she is 2 year 11 mths and very soon she will be three. She has grown so much in the last few month and pick up so many things. She can hold a decent conversation with people now and her imagination is real good. Here is one classic that brings smile to my face.

She was running around and I saw her with only one shoe on:

Me: Qi Ning where is your other shoe?
QN: I am Cinderella (Show me a big grin)!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a girl her age, I consider Qi Ning very understanding. She don't make unreasonable demand and most time, we can reason with her and she don't resort to crying or throwing a tantrum to get her way. Sometime I fear I am "forcing" her to grow up too quickly!
She is learning her math without being told that that's math. Everyday she will ask for her sweet treat so we took the opportunity to teach her simple addition and subtraction. She could add and subtract with one hand.
She is a very sweet girl.
Rides
The merry-go-round ride is one of Qi Ning favourites ride. We ask her recently if she would like to see the Royal London Circus or go for the Merry-go-round, she chose the merry-go-round! She said she only wanna see elephant so we decided to take her to the Zoo rather than the circus.
See my baby Qi Yu is also enjoying her ride! Though she doesn't know to request for it yet, unlike the jie jie who would ask to go for the rides every now and then!
This little girl of me is growing real fast and asking lots of "WHY" nowadays. Everything she will has a "WHY?" So mummy has to be patient answering all her why.
Such joy to see them grow.
Genting Trip
Last month we went to Genting for a trip. Qi Ning really enjoy the cool weather and the indoor rides. She was very happy to have an opportunity to wear her "winter" clothes! Qi Yu is also happy to join in the fun.
My baby girl
Haven't being updating my blog, was lazy & kinda of busy as well. Qi Ning & Qi Yu are growing up so fast. Next month, Qi ning will turn three and Qi Yu is oledi 9 mths old now. I have been wanting to post photo of them for a long time but always didn't get round doing it. Mainly also because I don't know how to convert the big file to a smaller byte so I can upload easily. Sorry ya for not responding to fellow bloggers request for photo of my two girls sooner. I promise I will do it by this week.
Qi Yu can crawl very well now and is now looking for every opportunity to stand whenever she find a chance. Of course not standing on her own yet but holding on to something, she can stand and walk along. She loves climbing up to the sofa in our sitting room and she is an expert now in climbing up the sofa on her own.
I think her liquid intake is too little and she is having constipation. So "kesian" her when she has to push through the hard stool. She has been passing hard stool for the past two week and she only poo every three days. I am working hard to help her to move her bowel more regularly. Has been feeding her kiwi, papaya, green and the dragan fruit. Ask the maid to give her more water as well during the day.
I think more teeth is going to sprout soon as she is drooling and bitting more nowadays. Mummy is one of the victim of her sore gum. She bite me when I was nursing so mummy has got a sore nipple now. So every time I have to remind her not to bite mummy! She still doesn't like to drink milk very much.
This little girl of mine is a playful girl, she would rather play then sleep. Every night, after light off she would still try to crawl here and there and will take another half an hour before she sleep even when it is well past her bed time.
She is a sweet little girl.
8 month old
Each time when I look at my girls, I am always amaze by God's wonderful creation and am thankful for the two little angels that He has given to me.
Qi Yu turning 8mth old tomorrow. this little baby of me is growing bigger each day. I used to worry for her weight gain, now I am quite sure that she is growing well and not to be alarm by her lack of milk intake during day time. She now weigh about 8 kg, length wise, didn't do any measurement lately. She now has four pearly white, 2 upper and 2 lower. Her milk intake during the day is still not very much, about 180ml but she has started to enjoy her porridge or fruits quite a bit. Every morning, she will have an egg yolk for breakfast. Lunch and dinner time she will have porridge, in between she will have her milk and fruits. She likes fruits more than porridge! Whenever she see us eating, she would reach out her hands, wanting to grap a bite as well.
Qi Yu is quite ambitious, not yet pro in crawling, she wanna learn how to stand pledi. Now whenever she had opportunity, she would pull herself up in a standing position. If she is successful, she would smile to herself. She can crawl and then sit down nicely.
She starts to say baba, not sure if she is actually calling baba or just part of the sounds that she made. She is quite talkative and laugh easily when you play with her. She has a loud voice and will make sure you hear her especially if she dislike the situition. Yes, she won't hesitate to scream at the top of her lung till you take her out of the situation, eg when being strapped down in her haigh chair or car seat.
She loves to play and would sacrifice sleep for play. Mummy is having a hard time to lure her to sleep for the past few nights. Usually by 9.30pm she oledi in her dreamland, now 10.30pm still rolling all over the bed, pulling herself to a standing position , making yeeyaya sounds. Weekends even worst, when mummy is around sleep even less. I hope this is just a passing phase.
Watching her grow is a pleasure and she is such a joy to have!
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall!
Yes, this post is about a great fall that Qi Yu had recently! It is mummy fault for being careless. Last Saturday, someone came and repair the curtain rail in the living room area where Qi Yu would normally have her nap. So that afternoon, we let her sleep in the guess room's bed. She can crawl now so we are quite weary about putting her on bed if no one is around. Hubby told me to check on her periodically and to listen carefully to any sound that Qi Yu may make when she wakes up. He was the one checking onnher while I was having lunch with Qi Ning. He told me to do that after lunch. I say ok but didn't do it immediately, a few minute later, I hear a "bom" then a loud cry. Rush upstair and saw Qi Yu on the floor. Pick her up and the poor baby sobbing away in her sleepy stage. Bad mummy for not taking the necessary step to ensure baby's safety. Thank God that there is no major injury. Sorry baby for causing you to fall!
33 months
When I look at Qi Ning, I am so amaze by the way she has grown. She is 33 months old today. I have lost track of her development but I just notice that she is growing by the day. She can hold a decent conversation with people now and she will ask you for the meaning of words if she doesn't understand it. Before we starts her with the Sunday School, she speak mainly in English but now, she can speak Mandarin pretty well. And she loves to look for Malay children and practice her Malay with them. She still is very freindly to other children but no longer hug them by suprise.
Like Mummy, Qi Ning loves to eat. Everything is tasty to her and she is not very picky eater. Her favourite is lolli pop/sweets. Every evening when I reached home after addressing me, her first request is "mummy, I want lolli pop! " :) She weigh 15kg now, height I didn't measure I think is about 94cm.
She likes to imitake what we do. She saw us eating noddles with chopstick and wanted to do the same. We let her tried and now she is an expert, she can eat a bowl of noddles with chopstick without help from us. Nowadays, she refuse to use the kiddie fork, she want chopstick!
She could recognise some alphabet and numeral. Mummy bought the "Spell to Write and Read" core materail, wanting to teach her but not yet had the time.
Ever since she tasted the glama of dancing on the stage, she often mentions that she want to dance on stage. She can sing many songs, I lost count of the songs oledi. Songs in Manadarin, English and Malay.
She is very much into pretend play nowaday, one minute she would the pregnant lady, next minute she would be the Doctor and then she would be the pilot. She is also into the building business, she will be bulding house using pillows, bolster and blanket! She would also change her identity, sometime she is a Malay, sometime would be an Indian.
She is quite mature for her age, understanding and generally well behaved. Sometime with her maturity, we forget that she is not even three yet. I am pleased with her overall development. I pray that she would grow into a balance adult, in favor of God and man.
"I am 欣柔 (XinRou)"
In the past, there are occasion when Qi Ning would say that her name is Xin Rou (Xin Rou is my brother's youngest daughter). And she would follow my nieces and nephews calling us "姑姑` 姑 丈 instaed of mummy and papa. But lately, she has been saying that she is Xin Rou all the time. When I call her Qi Ning, she would tell me "no, I am Xin Rou!" She is really into this pretend game. I usually just play along with her. Hubby was saying I shouldn't encourage it. I take it as part of her growing up phase where she pretend to be somebody else which is quite harmless but he think otherwise!
Blackout adventure
Two days ago, my area had a major blackout. The moment I reached home from work, hubby had the kids all ready just waiting for me so that we can go out for dinner. I was told that the eletricity was out since 5.00pm. We thought it might not be too long before the electricity would be back but we were very wrong!
We had dinner near by where there was current. After dinner we went home and still there is no electricity. So we decide we would bring the kids to shopping centre. We went to Jaya Jusco at Equine park. We walk around and have ice-kacang at the food court. We leave there at about 8 plus thinking that the current should be back by now. When we were near to home, we saw neighbouring flat have light so we thought it would be the same for our area but alas, when we reach our area still no electricity. So we had car ride around he neighbourhood and Qi Ning ask" Why we go round and round like a merry-go-round?" :) We round for 15 mins then decide we would head off to Tesco instaed of rounding in the neighbourhood. Then hubby decide that we should go look at our new church building instaed. So off we went again for our venture.
By then, I was quite tire and thirsty, so we stop at a mamak place for a drink. Oh, the coconut juice was wonderful and Qi Ning had her favourite roti tissue. By the time we had our supper and go home, still no elctricity. Went round the neighborhood again then off to Tesco. We were at Tesco till 10.30pm, we were all tired so decided to go home irregardless whether if there is elcetricity or not.
Hurray, when we reached home, we saw the light! By the time I showered and get kids ready for bed, it is well pass eleven. I thought they would be very tired and would doze off immediately but I guess they were over excited and didn't settle down after quite a while.
For the whole period of the blackout, I was so worried that all my milk stock will be melted. I counted the blackout lasted about 6 hours. I was so relieves when I checked on my milk stoke and found that they were not melted. Really thankful for it. Or else, seeing all the epressed breast milk thawing, I would cry!
7 Months
I dunno know where my time has gone for the past 7 months but I definitely see my baby growing by the day. Yap, my Qi yu is 7 months old now.
Her vital statistic didn't change much, her weight as of yesterday is 7.5kg and length is 68cm. For the past four month, she only put on 500g as she don't drink much for the time that I am at work. I am not very worry now with her slow weight gain because she is meeting her developmental milestone.
She has got a pearly white on her lower jaw. Still only only. Started her on solid last month. So now, every morning, when we are having our breakfast, Qi Yu is joining in. I will give her half of the egg york mixed with breast milk. She seem to like it. Afternoon, she either have prorridge (only with carrot or pumpkin) blended till smooth. She only have one to two spoonful of it. Fruits are also introduce to her diet oledi. She loves fruit and when we said "finished" and walk away she will be crying! So far, we have let her eat apple, mango, papaya and banana. Yesterday, mummy let her have a taste of durian, she seem to like it as well! Milk intake wise she still don't drink very much, ranging from 80ml -160ml for the duration that I am away.
She haven't sleep thru the night yet as she is still on reverse nursing. So at night mummy still need to nurse her.
She can sit unsupported now, quite stable oledi. She is starting to crawl from one end of the bed to the other end. I dare not let her crawl on the floor yet for fear she may hit her head on the floor. When I put a toy in front of her, she will crawl to reach for it.
OverallQi Yu is a cheerful baby. She is also becoming a sticky tape, sticking closely to mummy liao!
Separation Anxiety
Every morning, before I leave for work, I would hugs and kiss the girls then say my bye-bye. Qi Yu is at the stage where she knows that bye-bye means mummy is going off to work. And when she hear me saying bye-bye to her, she would starts to cry and upon seeing me walking out the door, the wail is even louder. That would make my feet very heavy upon leaving the house. :( I guess she is at the stage of separation anxiety.
Every morning, I would have to carry her first until she is satisfy then I can pass her to the maid without her making a fuss. But if I don't carry her and the maid pick her up directly from the bed, she would be wailing away! This is my Qi Yu, wanting to have her share of mama! :)
Qi Ning is quite ok with me going off as long as I give her a hug and a kiss. But sometime she would still ask that I don't to office or making request to follow me to office. I promise her I would bring her to my office one of this day. So next Staurday, when I am having the family week event, I will bring her to my office.
Flu bugs
During labor day holiday, we took Qi Ning and Qi Yu for a morning swim with my brother's kids. I think Qi Ning is not used to the cold water in the morning, she got a running nose after that and then follow by cough. She has been having a cough and running nose since then!
Good thing is that there is no fever and she is still very active. When give her medication, she would co-operate and take her medication without a fuss. At time she would request for medication herself! She would ask me to pray for her to get well soon.
The flu bugs seem to be active in my home now, hubby is down as well and I can hear Qi Yu coughing every now and then. And mummy seem to be getting it as well. Hopefully, we will all get well soon!
Six Month Old
Is amazing to see how a child develop each day. My Qi Yu is already 6 months old two days ago. I was too busy to blog about her development. Her weight is about 7.3kg and length about 67cm. Still not drinking very much for the time that I am away but since she is putting on weight and is on reverse nursing, I am not too worried now.
Supposed to start her on solid but I have not teach the maid how to yet so I am putting it on hold. Her first pearly white is noticeable now. And she is able to sit by herself without support but still not very stable yet.
Emotionally, she is able to show her "jealousy". What I mean by that is she would cry if she see me carry her jie jie and not her when I return home from work or early in the morning when we first wake up. If the maid will to take her from me, she would also protest by crying. She knows how to stretch out her hand toward me when she want me to carry her.
She don't really like to sit in her carseat and would often protest when we put her in her carseat. She would protest so loud when we insist that she stay in her carseat. The minute we take her off carseat, she will be smiling. So is going to be a battles to make her sit in her carseat because she sort of know if she scream loud enuf she will be off the hook. So daddy & I really need to learn to put a deaf ear to her screaming in order to train her.
She is an alert baby, don't like to sleep very much. She brings us lots of joy as well just like Qi Ning. I really thank God for the two precious girls!
Pearly white
My Qi Yu's first pearly white has finally emerged thru' the sore gum on the lower jaw! Can't see very clearly yet but can see only the tiny bit on top if you are observant but if you feel it with finger, it is quite sharp. I think a few more is on it's way. Some said so early got teeth oledi ya, some said so late only got teeth ya. I also dunno whether is early or late, for me as long as is healthy, can oledi. I can't remember when did Qi Ning cut her firth tooth.
Is really amazing to see the little one grows. My Qi Yu now can really show her preference. Whenever I pass her to the maid she would complaint so loudly. If the maid is carrying her, not for long she would be making noise. If hubby or myself take over, her noise will subside immediately. She obviously knows her parents. I just loves her as I loves Qi Ning! :)
Friendly girl
My Qi Ning has always been quite friendly but lately I think she is being over friendly with children whom are stanger. No matter where we are, be it in a shopping mall, restraurant, park or anywhere, when she see other children, irregardless of race and age, she would run towards them, sometime trying to hug them, hold their hands, and wanting to strike a conversation. Some of the children that she approach would make friend with her and some would not know how to react. I think some parents were taken aback by her action and I have to apology on her behalf.
I have to teach her how to be friendly without being intrusive and also not to be over friendly. Good thing she is only extra friendly to children. If she also so over friendly with adult, I would be very worried!
Going on strike?
I am not sure what is the cause but my Qi Yu's milk intake is of concern to me for the past few weeks. She has never really like to drink from the bottle but no choice because I am a working mum. One month before I go back to work I oledi training her to drink EBM (expressed breast milk) from the bottle but she would cries and drink, only 20-30ml. Slowly, she is getting used to the bottle and not protesting as much. But she milk intake is still quite low ranging from 160ml- 240ml for the time that I am at work. But for the past two weeks, her milk intake has dropped to 100ml, yesterday was the lowest thus far, 80ml only for the whole duration that I am away!
Her last feed before I leave to office is about 7.00am then she will wait for me to nurse her gaain at about 6.0pm. For the whole time that I am away, I think she just drink the minimal to keep her from getting real hungry. And her mininal is getting less and less by the day. I am not sure if it because she is just not interested in the milk or she is protesting that Mummy is going away and she is on a hunger strike or she may be teething! I remember when Qi ning is her age, she drank about 350-400ml for the same duration that I am away. I always worried that my supply will not be enough for her. Now my fridge is full of EBM, some is going to be expire soon! Hopefully her appetite will come back soon so mummy does not have to worry about her growth!
"I want to be so beautiful"
My Qi Ning is at the stage where she wants to look beautiful everyday. For the past few weeks, every morning she would go to her wordrobe to look for pretty dress. She would not wear her usual casual dress or T-shirt. She epsecially like those dress that when you turn around, it will flair up to make a beautiful circle like a dancer. She would tell me " I want to dance with the prince you know or not?" (She is into her Cindrella story!) And guess who is her prince? Her beloved papa!
Last night, I was playing with her and she was pretending to paint her nail with those colourful play dough. And she wanted to "paint" for me, telling me it would looks so beautiful if I paint me finger nail and toe nail. She saw my sister and sister-in-law had their finger nail and toe nail painted and now she wanted to paint her finger nail and toe nail as well. I don't use much of the make-up so she doesn't ask me for the lipstick and thing yet.
One of my niece who is two year her senior keep long hair and my Qi Ning has been wanting to keep long hair like her as well. She would envy my niece whenever she saw her hair all tied up with all the nice hair accesseries. Whenever she refuse to eat her green, I will just ask if she would like her hair to grow long like Rou Rou jie jie, she would nod her head and happily eat her green!
I guess girl would always be girl, wanting to be beautiful!:)
Five months old
Not so long ago, she was only a new born baby and now she has turn five month old. I guess when you have a little one around, you can't help but be reminded that time flies!
My Qi Yu turn five month old on Saturday. This little girl of mine is getting more and more plaful by the day. She will laugh so loud when I hold her and dance with her jie jie. She just loves to have people play with her especailly children.
Have not weigh her recently, but don't think she put on much recently because she don't drink much milk when I am away at work, someday as little as 140ml for the eleven hours that I am away. She has grown taller. I think she is in her teething stage as she starts to bite when she nurse. I have to repeatedly remind her not to bite. She loves to put everything into her mouth. She especially like to put her second finger i.e the pointer into her mouth. She can aim so accurately!
This girl of mine don't like to be in lying down position, she loves siting up. When put her in lying down position, she will try her best to lift up her body as if doing sit up! I think she will be sitting up on her own quite soon.
If she doesn't like anything she will make sure that you know of her dislike first by her mild protest. If you ignore her protest, it will proceed to loud protest! Overall she is a cheerful baby. I just loves my baby!
Adoring gaze
I have been enjoying this special moment with Qi Yu for the past few weeks. I usually put her in my sling when I go grocery shopping. I hold her on the sling, facing me so I can see her. One time, I notice that she was tilting back her head and gazing on me adoringly. I gaze back at her and we have our sweetest moment of exchanging adoring gaze. From then onward, every time I put her on the sling, we will have our special moment of gazing at each other. I really enjoy this special moment. I can't describe the kind of feelings that I have when we gaze into each other's eyes. It is so peaceful and feel like the world is revolving around only us, so much jo as well.
Qi Ning was on the lime light during my brother’s company products launching at Merriort Putrajaya on 26th March. It was a not a planned thing for Qi Ning to be on stage just a spontenous call by the EMcee. There were fashion shows and also a Malay singer cum emcee hosting the whole events. Qi Ning saw people walking on the stage and heard the music, she wanted to join in the fun. She kept telling me "mummy, let’s dance." So I just let her dance on the floor. Who knows, in between the program, the emcee was looking to see if there were any children around. He already gotten two Malay boys on stage and was looking for girls. Hehehe, he pick Qi Ning to go on stage with him. He asked if Qi Ning wanted to dance and Qi Ning say yes. At first I thought Qi Ning might not follow him to the stage but she did!
The emcee was a bit "cheong hee" did a lots of talking before he actually show the kids the dance that he wanted them to do. He don’t know how to speak to Qi ning and was just making some gibberish sound. My brave Qi Ning just shake and dance away in her own style when the music starts. Upon seeing her movement, the crowd just clapped and cheer her on. I guess when she suddenly realised that the spot light was on her , she became self-conscious, got scared and wanted to come down from the stage immediately. Didn’t even want to stand on the stage for another minute to collect the present!
God's Protection
This incident happened quite sometime back about two three months ago. I didn't get a chance to write it down and today it came to mind to blog about it as I am thankful to God for His protection over Qi Ning.
It happened on the wee hour one morning when I was up nursing Qi Yu. I can hear the sound of Qi Ning rolling in the bed. I turn to her direction and saw the bolster falling down the bed and next I saw Qi Ning rolling down from the bed! My heart sank seeing what take place and I was hoping the odd against odd that she would land on the bolster but the chance is really slim.
God must have heard my silence cry and yes she landed on the bolster "beautifully" as if she was just rolling down to hold on to the bolster. She was not even awaken by the fall, hubby heard my cry, woke up to see Qi Ning on the bolster down on the floor and he just carried bolster and her to the bed. And my girl just continue on sleeping! :)
At that moment my heart filled with thanksgiving, if not because of God's protecting hands, I can foresee a big "bangolow" in Qi Ning's forehead. The next day I told her of the incident she just smile, I wonder if she was aware of the fall or not!
So nowadays when I am up nursing Qi Yu middle of the night, I am always on the alert, listening to Qi Ning's movement just in case she roll down the bed again. I am trying to get her to move to her own bed as she is still squeeze in the middle of hubby and me. She is not willing to leave our bed and mummy isn't insisting as well. I dunno whether I should insisit that she move to her own bed now or wait till she ready then move her. If I insisit, I foresee some battle and teary nights.
Actually after the incident, I have been sweet talking to her and tell her to sleep in her own bed. This how the conversation goes during the night time before chinese new year:
Mummy: Qi Ning, you jie jie oledi, must sleep in your own bed, Qi Yu also sleep in her own baby cot.
Qi Ning: Wait, Chinese new year ok
Mummy: After CNY you must sleep on your own bed ok?
Qi Ning: ok mummy
During CNY, when were at my mum's and in-law, she did keep to her word, sleep on her own on and not squeeze between us. Even when I offer her to hop on the bed to sleep with us for a while early in the morning she would refuse telling me that CNY oledi she must sleep on her own. So i thought she would keep to her words and do the same when we returned home.
Alas, the first night at home after CNY is back to the usual, she wanna sleep on mummy's bed! And now when I ask her to sleep in her own bed, she tells me wait till her three year old birthday. See, how clever my girl is at bargaining!
Attension seeking
Nowadays, babies seems to be getting smarter. They seem to reached their developmental milestone quicker. Qi Yu is beginning to know how to demand for me. Each morning, when I say bye bye to her and pass her to the maid, she will protest by letting out a cry. In the evening when I reached home after work usually Qi Ning will be screaming for mummy and want me to do this and that for her. So I usually tend to Qi Ning first but now Qi Yu also is demanding that I attend to her. She will cry if I don't (slap forehead), so young also know how to demand for attention oledi. And she will scream loudly as well when I don't attend to her fast enough! Sometime I feel guilty when I have to leave her with the maid especially on the weekend when she wakes up early and mummy wannna sleep in.
Qi Ning is continuosly wanting mummy's attention. Sometime in her sleep I can hear her saying I want mummy. Lately, quite often she willl wakes up middle of the night to ensure that I am sleeping next to her. If she don't find me she would cry. And if I am in the midst of nursing Qi Yu when she wakes up middle of night, she will fuss a little. I think she is still adjusting to having to share mummy with her meimei even though she loves her meimei heaps. Mummy need to learn to give them both the attention that they need in a fair manner. Thank God that Daddy is very involved in parenting and attending to thier need as well.
Four Months Old
My Qi Yu is four months old today. She has grwon quite a fair bit. From 3.65 kg at birth to 6.8kg as of last Tuesday. Length wise, she is 67cm long now. I am happy to see her grow so well. Even those for the time that I am at work, she don't drink much milk but she make up by nursing frequently at night when I am home. During the 12 hours that I am away, her total milk intake is between 160ml to 240ml on a good day.
Qi Yu is quite a playful girl in that when I am nusring her, she won't nurse properly. She would nurse for a while and pull out and look at me cheeckily sometime with a smile. And the milk will be squiting all over her face. Sometime she will pull off from my breast and hide for a while and then come back to nurse again. She likes to play with my T-shirt while nursing.
Friends have commented that Qi Yu is sociable and cheerful. She would coo and wannna look for people to play with her. She especially like to play with children. Most of the time she is friendly but at time she will fuss when there is unfamiliar faces especially when she is tired. She just enjoys having conversation with people.
Qi Yu loves to suck her finger/hands. Anything she get hold of, she would put into her mouth. She is starting to grab things with her hand. But she doesn't like pacifier!
Is a joy to see the little one growing day by day. Thinking of her brings smile to my face. I just loves my two girls.
"Mummy I likes you"
On Monday morning when I get ready for work after the long CNY break, Qi Ning saw me changing and she came over and hold on to me and refuse to let me change. She was crying and ask me not to go to work, so I hug her and try to reason with her. In the midst of her crying, she say, "Mummy I likes you, don't go to office". I was taken aback by this statement as how my words stay in her little mind. I can't remember exactly when was it but I did say something to the effect that since you don't like mummy, is better for mummy to go to office. I remember only saying this once or twice during the time when I was home with her and she was not complying to my demand of lying down for her afternoon nap.
I felt rather quilty when she blurted out that statement on Monday morning. It got me into reflecting on my parenting style, if I have been using too much of threat in my parenting. I also realise how my words can affect my little girl. So I better be careful of what I say to her especially when I am angry or irritated. I do wannna be a good mum but at time I do make mistake. So my dear Qi Ning, if mummy's words has cause you to feel insecure, I am sorry.
Thank God that kids are very resilient and forgiving. After the monday morning episode, she is ok with me going back to work now. She resume her commando role of comanding mummy to hug and kiss everyone at home before I leave for work.
Photos
These are photos of Qi Yu and Qi Ning and also SIL who help out during my confinement time.
First two photos were taken when Qi Yu was about a week old and others were taken when she was about a month old.
Mummy is not good in taking photos, need to learn and brush up the skill of taking good shots!
Hugs
Every morning before I leave for work, I would give my girls a hug and a kiss. Qi Ning will make sure that I also kiss and hug papa after kissing and hugging them. She will actually shout out the order every morning, "mummy, kiss kiss papa and hug hug papa!" Hubby is not those type who will display affection publicly and he is not use to saying "I love you". But now under his daughter's daily "supervision", he is getting use to it hugging me and kissing me in the morning before I leave for work. And I can hear her telling my girls "I love you" more and more. Previously, he will be so conscious that the maid is around lah, there are other people in the house lah...etc He is not comfortable even just holding hands with me in public. I have to tell him I wanna hold hands! :) But now Qi Ning will holds our hands! And he has to respond to Qi Ning's "I love you papa"!
I am just so amaze how God is using our kids to teach us about loving one another and being affectionate towards one another!
Three months old
Qi Yu is three month old today. She is growing very well, already can turn over so mummy no longer has the luxury of lying her anywhere to my convenient unattended. Qi Yu is a very expressive girl. In such a young age, her facial expression is so rich, she will "forewarn" us her next step through her facial expression so by looking at her expression we can kinda of guess what she want and whether she is going to smile or cry.
I don't think she has put on much weight this month because ever since I starts working she isn't drinking much. At birth, she weighs 3.65kg, at one month, she weigh 4.7kg and on two month she weigh 5.9kg. I think now is only slightly more than 6kg. Her milk intake during the day time range between 160ml to 220ml in total. In certain day, she may drink up to 260ml but is a rare occasion. And it takes so many feed for her to finish the amount. Mummy has so much expressed milk stored in the fridge!
Qi Yu does not like us to hold her in a lying down position, she loves the sit up position where she can see things around her. Even when in her car seat or pram, she will attempt to lift up her head from the seat. When I put her on the stomach, she can hold her head so high to look around her environment.
She can respond to people calling her. When heard people calling her name, she will turn her head to the direction. She is especially responsive to her jiejie, Qi Ning. Her eyes will be following Qi Ning when Qi Ning is playing around her. I think she is beginning to discover her own voice as she is starting to scream this few days.
Such joy to see the little one growing day by day!
Feeling Shy
Qi Ning is two year four month old now and she is becoming more aware of her individuality. Every Saturday, people will be coming to my house for bible study. I notice that for the past two Saturday, when there are visitors around, she would not want to use her potty. On the usual day, we put her potty somewhere in the sitting room for her easy access. She has no problem using her own potty, but on Saturday night, she want to go to the adult potty (i.e toilet). I ask her why she doesn't want to use her potty, she told me that people will "liu liu liu" her, she is feeling shy now!
It really dawn on me that my girl is growing up. She could now ride on a kid's bicycle by herself. I let her ride to the playground on Saturday with me walking beside her of course. She was very pleased that she could now ride to the playground, like all the big kids in the playground. Before this, we only let her ride in the house.
She also started attending Sunday school beginning this year. Every Sunday, before we leave for Sunday school she will ask for her handbag as she must bring her handbag. And must make sure that there is a purse in her handbag just like mummy!
Conversation with Qi Yu
Qi Yu is two month plus now. What tickle me most about her is her interest in having a conversation with people. She could hold a "convesation" by cooing with me or hubby for about half an hour per session. She would coo and smile as we talk to her. So every evening I look forward to go home and have a chat with her. what amaze me is that she would keep the eyes contact. Must be an expert in communication!
Qi Yu is a cheerful girl, true to her name, meaning cheerful. Every morning when she wakes up, she will smile and when we talk to her she will be all smile as well. I just loves her smiles.
I notice she is beginning to turn or least working hard on trying to turn over. I actually saw her turn over once about two week ago when I put her on her stomach. She can hold her head quite steadily and looks around when on her stomach. Baby bring us so much joys!
Looking Back
When I think of the two girls, my heart just overflow with thanksgiving. God indeed has blessed me with two of the most beautiful angels and gift in life. On the day when I was in lobor, Qi Ning waited for me at the hospital. She left after seeing me and baby in the wee hour of the morning. That time she was still not fully recover yet and was down with flu. That made her quite clingy.
After I discharge from the hospital, that was where real adjustment come about for Qi Ning. She now has to share mummy with meimei. Due to her health at that time, it was hard for her initially. For the first week, Qi Ning would wake up whenever I wake up to nurse Qi Yu, sometime she would cries, sometime she would hold on to me, refused to let me get up. But later she would let me go but stays awake to keep me company. She would also set up the seat for me to nurse Qi Yu. Qi Ning also pass her germ to her meimei, Qi Yu caught the flu bugs from Qi ning, was coughing and had running nose during the first week home.
It was a real testing time for me during the first week of my confinement. Having to deal with two sickly girls and also my own C-section pain. But God was incredibably good to me. He quicken the step of my C-section recovery. I could get up of bed without much pain in the very early stage, maybe within the first week of my c-section.
Now the two girls are best of pal, Qi Yu will smile whenever her jiejie call up to her and Qi ning just loves her little meimei and will running to get her diaper whenever we need to change for Qi Yu. She wants to carry her meimei every so often. Such joys to see them growing up together!
Updates!
Time flies so fast when you are having fun! Two months of maternity leave has gone past. I am back at work today. For the past two month, I have not touch the computer, now is the time for some updates.
Baby Qi Yu was born on 7 November, I tried for natural birth but still end up with a C-section but most importantly baby is well. She was 3.65kg at birth and now is probably 5kg oledi! The wonder of mummy's milk! When people see her so chubby and ask what brand of milk she drinks, I will proudly declare mummy's brand, only produce by mummy for her baby only!
November was a challenging month for me. My due date was on 4Nov, which is a Saturday. Since on that day, there was no sign of baby wanting to come out yet, hubby suggest we go shopping at Mid-Valley. Qi Ning was very happy but the happy venture end up to be a bad experience for her. We ate at the food court during lunch and she probably got food poisioning after eating there. The vommiting was so bad that she was dehydrated by the evening and doctor recommended that we admit her. So instead of mummy going to hospital for delivery, it was Qi Ning who was hospitalised, I stayed with her for the night. After one night at the hospital, Qi Ning seem to be ok so mummy request for discharge on 5 Nov as mummy was very tired. However, mummy later discovered that it was a bad judgement on mummy's part to ask for discharge so soon, as no sooner than when we reached home, Qi Ning "ciri-birit" begins!
On 5 Nov midnight, I had contraction and a slight show. In the morning, I told hubby that I may be in labour but the contraction is not very regular yet. Went for check-up and the gynae told me to admit if the contraction is more regular as the VE shows only 1 cm dilation. I was admitted on the 6 Nov afternoon. It was quite a long labour to no avail and I had a emergency c-section at about 4am on 7 Nov. Baby Qi Yu made her apperance at 4.16am.
Final count down, 1 more day to go!
If we pregnant ladies can really count down to the day when our baby will be born that would be fanstastic, but baby has her own timing for when she wants to make an apperance to the world!
I attribute all my anxiety to what this particular gynae told me after my check-up on Monday (30 Oct). I was doing my 39 week routine check-up at Serdang hospital, the regular gynae who sees me was not around so I get to see this chinese gynae. After looking at my file, he suggested that instaed of VBAC, I should go for a C-section. He said looking at my age, the reason for my first C, the risk of uterine rapture, safer for baby and blah blah blah, is better for me to have a C. He told me if I wanna C-section, I should be admitted on Tuesday and he will arrange for a C on Wednesday. I was sort of throw off balance by what he said as all this while I am mentally preparing myself for VBAC, and is aware of the risk of VBAC. But the way he sound make it quite unsettling for me, I was anxious. I told him I needed to think and discuss the matter with hubby. Will let him know the next day.
Went home, discuss the matter over with hubby and decided that since we have been praying, preparing and waiting till now for a natural birth, must as well wait till due date then see what's next. On tuesday, went back to see him. The particular gynae who recommended me for C did not come in till quite late. While waiting for him, I met the regular gynae who see me and I asked her if I could see her and discuss some matter with her. She is the consultant gynae, Dr Wan Hamilton, who is also the head of the O&G in Serdang hospital. Dr Wan is a very friendly lady. She remembers me and was happy to entertain me! So we had a chat and I told her about the other gynae's recommendation. She did an examination for me and was assuring me if I wanna try for VBAC, her stand still remain as we have talked abt it during my previous visit, and they will monitor the labor very closely. We also discussed if past due date, baby is still not ready to come, what procedure she would recommend. She reminded me to pray as well! After talking to her, my heart settled down a fair bit, so when the other gynae came in, I just told him I will wait!
Due to the unexpected episode with the other gynae, that's why I became very anxious about baby arrival for the past few day, worried about baby's well being and all the what if question pop in to my mind. But today, I am calmer because I learn to take this matter to the Lord and the prayer in the devotional book that I read reminds me that God is in control and He is the one who is in charge of life.
My sister gave me this devotional book entitle "I'm having a baby, help me Lord" when I was pregnant with Qi Ning. It has a daily reading and a prayer. The prayer in the book helps me to learn to wait patiently for the perfect timing of this baby's birth. One of the prayer goes like this:" Father, once again I submit the cares and concerns I have regarding the birth of this child into Your hands. I trust that he will be born precisely at the time You ordained for your purposes."
So I am submitting all my "what if" questions to the Lord and trust His perfect timing in bringing the baby to the world! Be happy while waiting rather than be anxious so baby will come out a happy baby rather than an anxious baby! :)
I am still around!
Yes, two more days to go and I am still around! I told baby if she doen't want to come out on 4Nov then she can come on 8Nov which is daddy & mummy wedding anniversary. Our plan is if baby don't come on the EDD, which is this Saturday, we will see the gynae on Monday and discuss about induction and things like that. So at the moment is still a waiting game.
We also have been preparing Qi Ning for the day when Mummy have to go to hospital for delivery. I have never left her since she was born and she is very attcahed to me when come to sleep time at night. We told her when mummy goes to hospital for delivery, she has to sleep with daddy. We also get her to talk to baby and ask baby to come soon. She prays for mummy as well for a smooth delivery.
Qi Ning is getting more independent nowadays. She now prefer to goes to the bath room rather than her potty. She can feed herself quite well and drink from a cup without spilling all over. Her imagination is budding well. She will pretend to be character that she read from her story book such as the big bad wolf, snow white..etc. Sometime, she would dress up and say she is a bride, or cover her face with a veil to ask us to unveil the bride.
She also loves to play hide and seek with us. She will pretend to close her eyes and count one to ten while we try to hide! There is so much joy seeing her grow. :)
The wait begins
Since last week, everyone who sees me is asking when is the baby due. And I have to keep telling them not yet, soon baby will arrive. Four more days to my due date. One of my collegue whose due date is one day after mine gave birth on the first day of Raya. So now everyone is after when I will pop! I am also anxiously waiting for the arrival of my bundles of joy but my baby seem to be very comfortable in mummy's stomach. No sign of labor yet. The head is down but not in the position yet.
From about a month ago, people have been saying that my baby seems to have descended, should due soooner than the expected due date. But I am so near to due date, still no sign! From history, I have a feeling my baby will not be on time. Qi ning was five days overdue. My mum told me when she was having us, all of us were overdue, my sister's babies were all over the due date as well.
I am sweet talking to my baby not to delay for too long and hopefully not to the extend of need to be induced as mummy is hoping for a natural birth after C section (Qi ning was a C section). So this few days have to talk to baby more.
Actually, mummy is also feeling a bit umcomfortable running around with a big tummy. This time round, my tummy is really big, much bigger than when I had Qi Ning. Is quite difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position at night and is hard to change side while sleeping. All in all, I am hoping baby will come quick so mummy can carry baby in my arm rather than in my tummy. So my dear baby please do come on time and do not delay. We are all waiting for your arrival! :)
Two years and one month old
Life is amazing, especially when you see the little one grown from a tiny little baby to a pre-scholler. As I looked back how 25 months ago QI Ning was just a little new born babe, today she is a chatty little girl! Each day, when I hold her hand, I am just so thankful to the Lord for her.
Now, let see what she has achieved thus far. She is fully tiolet trained during the day time, no more diaper only at night. When she wanna pee or poo, she want to take off her pant by herself and is refusing help. Wanting to be independent! She weighs about 12.5kg and height is about 87cm.
Language wise, she is able to communicate in English, Mandarin and Bahasa. A little bit in Foochow (daddy & mummy's dialect), mummy hope she will pick up more Foochow so need to make an effort to speak to her in Foochow. She can hold simple conversation with people and respond appropriately. She loves to sing and can sing many songs. She also loves to read books and can tells us story from the book that she reads. She remembers the character from the story and will choose which character she want to associate herself with and which she doesn't want.
Her favourite question now is "What is this Mummy?" Whenever she see anything that is not familiar she would asked the question and it would be non-stop when we are outside the house as there are so many thing that caught her attension. I guess soon it will be the WHY question oledi!
See my girl has grown and she knows she is going to be jie jie soon!
Bubbles fun
Long time ago, I think it was during Chinese New year time when we were back at my in law that Qi Ning first had her encounter with bubbles. Somehow, she always remember those moments and talked about it often. Her memory often caught me by suprise, because many thing I don't think she could possibly remember due to her young age but she could! She always remember is her Juney jie jie that blows the bubbles for her. She likes the bubbles. So lately, we bought bubbles set for her. She is so thrill by it and has been playing with it often. Now she don't need us to blow the bubbles for her, she can even blow her own bubbles. Of course we need to monitor her closely, just in case she put the tube too near her mouth. Her is a glimpse of her chasing the bubbles!
"The sky is dirty"
Due to the haze, we having been really taking Qi Ning outdoor the past few days. On Saturday, the sky was cleared for once, we took her outdoor. In the evening after dinner, we saw beautiful skyline with different colours, blue, orange, etc. She was excited. However, the beautiful clear sky did not last long, only for a day.
On Sunday morning, the haze came back. Qi Ning notice the changes, when we took her to church in the morning, she look at the sky and told me " Mommy, the sky is dirty! Clean the sky". Indeed the sky is dirty, what a huge task to clean the sky. So I told her to pray to Jesus and ask Jesus to send the rain to clean the sky and she did! Sad that our kids have to live with a "dirty sky" because of irresponsible adults!
Birthday Photos
Finally, this slow action mummy get to upload Qi Ning's two years old birthday's photo. The yellow dress birthday celebration was few days earlier than her actual birthday. We had a small party at home for her. The one in pink dress is her actual day, celebrating with Shirly jie jie who share the same birthday with Qi Ning at a restraurant.
From the day that she was born till now, time seems to fly and this little girl of our has brought us much joy and blessing. Life is never the same because of our darling girl, Qi Ning. May she continue to grow to be a blessing not only to our family but to many others!
" Mummy slowly"
I am into final 40days of my preganancy, can't wait for the baby to be out! I am getting bigger each day and getting up from the bed every morning is no longer as easy. I have to slowly move to the right position before I can get up. Qi Ning is very much aware of mummy's clumsiness and she take it upon herself to remind mummy to be careful. :) Nowadays, every morning when she see me trying to get up from bed, she will remind me "mummy slowly". It used to be hubby who does the job, now my little girl has taken over the job! :) She not only will remind me to be careful but also remind me to pray for the baby and smooth delivery. Each night when I pray for her, if I didn't pray for baby, she will remind me and if I don't ask for smooth delivery, she will remind me to pray for smooth delivery! So sweet my girl.
As of last week, Dr. say baby weight about 2.1kg. Hubby is worried that baby might be too big for natural delivery and he kept reminding me to watch up on my food intake. I am hoping for natural birth this time round as I had C-section with Qi Ning due to poor progress. Qi Ning was 3.7kg as a newborn, don't know how heavy this baby gonna be. Wanna guess? :)
Two years old birthday celebration
My princess turn two yesterday. Mummy took a day off and spent time with her. She is very happy to have mummy staying at home with with her. Her birthday celebration started on Saturday. We had a simple celebration for her last Saturday. The guess are all her favourites auties and uncle from church. The most enjoyable moment for her was the cake cutting session. When we brought out the cake for her, could see her face lighted up(will post all the photos later)! We all sang birthday song for her and could see she was grinning all over! After the song, she blew off the candles without any help and can even cut the cake! That night, before we sleep, I asked her if she was happy, she answer with a grin and say yes. I guess it is worth all the effort to have the little celebration just for her on Saturday!
Yesterday was her actual day for birthday. She shared the same birthday as Shirly jie jie from church, so the two families decided we would go out for dinner together. Before dinner, we took Qi Ning to IOI mall and let her have some fun at the carousel. She enjoys it as usual.
Uncle Yap bought two birthday cakes. One for his daughter (Shirly) and one for Qi Ning. Again, the highlight for Qi Ning is the cake cutting session. Imagine she sees two cakes in front of her. One with so many candles and one with two candles. She is just so delighted. Is easy to keep her happy, she don't demand much.
I am really glad to have Qi Ning as my daughter, she is such a blessing and joy to us.
Happy Birthday to my darling Qi Ning. Mummy loves you always!
Birthday party & Clown
On Saturday, I took Qi ning to a friend's daughter, Charmine, one year old birthday party. She was excited about going to the party. We gave her the birthday present to give to Charmine. She was holding it in her hand all throu' the car journey. I was afraid that she might not pass on the present but she did when she see the birthday girl!
All was well till we see the clown! Qi Ning was afraid of the clown! My friend specailly hired a clown to entertain the kids but Qi Ning would not participate in it. She was clinging to me the whole evening, hiding her face from the clown! If I attempt to bring her anywhere near the clown, she would cry. She even wanted to go back home immediately after seeing the clown! She told me she is scared of the clown. So instead of joining in the kids for the games and magic show, she joined mummy on the table for food. She was attarcted by the music and the laughter of the kids though but just refused to join in the fun.
When it was lucky draw time, the clown calls out her number, I took her to the front to collect her gift, she still refused to look at the clown. She cling on so tightly to me. But near the end of the party, she sort of warm up a little to the clown. At least she don't mind stand at a distant and look at the clown and line up for her baloon! I guess what she enjoy most during the birthday party is the time when we all sing birthday song to the birthday girl! She was happily singing and clapping her hands.
Seeing that she enjoyed the birthday song part, mummy decided that we are going to have a simple birthday party for her as well coming Saturday. I think she will be happy to have people gather around her to sing her birthday song!
"No, thank you. I eat a lot already!"
Is amazing to see how the vacabulary of the little one expands each day. Lately, I notice Qi Ning can really talk like a big girl. This is what happened during dinner time when she is being offer dishes that she don't really fancy.
Me: Qi Ning, you want to have somemore?
QN: No, thank you, I eat a lot already!
When she is being offer food that she likes (eg ice-cream, chocolate biscuit), she will request for more even if she just tell you "no, thank you, I eat a lot already!" When you asked her isn't she full, she will say "no, still hungry!"
A mother and daughter outing
I don't usually bring Qi Ning to sleep over at other people's house. But since she has indicated that she would like to stay with my brother on Sunday, so on Wednesday night, I took her to my brother's place and spent a night there. It is just me and her, without hubby and maid.
My youngest niece (Xin Rou) especially is thrilled to have Qi Ning sleeping over as she is about one and a half year older than Qi Ning. With Qi Ning around, she is no longer the youngest and can be a jie jie for a while! When it was time to sleep, all of them wanted to sleep with us. So end up the two younger one sleep with Qi Ning and I. Qi Ning was excited as well she didn't sleep till nearly 10.30pm. Her usual bed time is 9.30pm but since is a "holiday", I let her routine slip a bit
The second day (i.e Merdeka day), we went to Shangri-La for hi tea. My little girl sure know how to enjoy life! She could sit in her high chair quitely and wallup the food nicely. Mummy is pleased because that mean mummy can also sit down and enjoy her meal! :) She had a slice of pizza, some chicken, ice-cream, grape and strawberry. She also enjoy running around the pond with her cousins. Come to think of it, she didn't eat that much but was playing with the food! It was mummy that ate and ate! No wonder when it came dinner time she was hungry! Mummy just had some fruit for dinner.
I guess she was tired from all the fun and excitements from the previous night and also all the running round in the hotel, when we left for home at about 2.00pm( also passed her usual nap time), not long after the journey, she was happily zzzzzzzz away in her car-seat and slept on till about five in the evening! That night, we also settled her down early. By nine, she is in her dreamland already. This morning she woke up a happy girl. Waving and kissing mummy goodbye when mummy had to elave home for work!
It is good to have mother and daughter outing, think I should do that more often with her! :)
"Sweet" encounter
I have been trying to delay in exposing Qi Ning to sweets, chocolates and the likes. Last night she finally has her first candy stick without my knowledge. When I found out that she had a candy, she is already haly way thru' it. And there is no way I can get it away from her!
How did it happen? Well, it was from the well meaning restraurant's owner's daughter who was at the cashier couter dishing out lollies to little children who were running round while parents are busy enjoying their dinners. Last night, we had dinner with my brother and his family in VillaRaya. Little Qi Ning got restless after she is done with her meal and wanted to get down from her high chair and go to see the fishes. So I let her go with the maid watching after her. There were many kids running round including my brother's kids. While she was running round, mummy was enjoying her dinner. When mummy stops and turn around lokking for her little girl, I saw her with a coloirful candy stick in her hand! Not only her but all the kids have a candy stick on their hands and enjoying it. Now that she has had the "sweet" encounter, is going to be hard for me to keep her from the candy stick if she sees it again.
When it was time to go home after dinner, she went straight to my brother's car and wave bye-bye to me. We thought she might cry if we close the car door and drove off but she didn't. When we stop a little further to pick her from my brother's car, she is still happily walking round (no car seat in bro's car). I have to ask my nephew to gave her his left over candy stick to bribe her to come back to our own car (slap forehead)!
Little teacher
I found out recently that Qi Ning can be a good teacher. We were travelling to MIL's place and it was a long journey (Butterworth) on Monday. Since there is nothing much we could do in the car, except sing songs and tell story, Qi ning decides that she is going to teach kakak some songs.
It was very interesting and I was really suprise that she can really teach like a pro. this is what happened.
QN: kakak sing song Jesus loves me. (The maid went blue, so I translate the message)
Maid: Kakak tak tahu, Qi Ning ajar (kakak dunno the song, Qi Ning teach )
QN: Ok (she then proceed to sing the whole song in mandarin, after she finished the song she said) ini macam ya. kakak nyanyi.
She then sing line by line again, pause and request the kakak to follow her! :) It was so fun to see her be a teacher. We all can't help but laugh! I wonder where she learns to be a teacher1
Jealous and guilty at the same time
I dunno if other working mother feels the same like me or not. But I feel it at time, jealous when Qi Ning is close to the maid, feeling guilty when I get the maid to play Qi Ning play when I am at home. Most of the time I will try to play with her but sometime, I feel tired and asked the maid to play with her.
Before our new maid, after the first maid ran away either me or hubby will bath Qi Ning but now, with the tummy getting bigger, I find it hard to squat down to bath her. And since Qi Ning is allowing the new maid to bath her, we are beginning to let the maid bath her more often. So sometime, when I see the maid bath her, I feel kind of guilty, it should be me bathing my girl rather than the maid, especailly during the weekend!
Our new maid just arrived about three week ago. She is quite good with Qi Ning. At least Qi Ning will allow her bath her, carry her and play with her. Of course there are time Qi Ning would not want her kakak to help her but I have told her that kakak is a helper and she cannot say "don't want kakak". And this mummy get jealous when she is too close to the kakak! Hard to please ya this mummy!
"Is a boy or girl?"
Nowadays, this is one of the question that I have been asked on a regularly basis. "Is a boy or girl?" So far I have not been able to give an answer to this question as the doctor is not able to see from the scan due to baby's positioning. I guess for me, the most important thing is that the doctor is able to tell me if baby is healthy from the scan not the gender. So each time when I see the head, the little hands and legs from the scan, hear the heartbeat, I am pleased that baby is well.
Another question that often been asked is when is the baby due? Actually I also not very sure. If according to the last day of my menses, baby should be due 4 Nov but if according to the scan, the indicative size shows that baby due date may be one to two weeks later that the EDD given. Anyway, doesn't matter when baby is due, I know baby will come when he/she is ready to meet us!
During my earlier scan, doctor told me that I have low lying placenta and want me to be careful and the recent scan on tuesday (15/8), the scan show that it is no longer a low lying. Yippie, I am thankful for that. If not, may have to go for C-section again! I am hoping that this time I can have a natural birth. Have told the doctor about my desire but the doctor say must wait till nearer to term to see baby's condition and weight. If baby is too big then may not be advisable. So far, the baby's weight is only about a kilo. Mummy is the one putting on all the weight! So must watch out from now on my food intake!
Qi Ning is warming up more and more to the baby in mommy's stomach. She will greet baby "good morning", "good night" and even say " I love you baby" on her own accord. Is great to have kids ya!
"I want to go mommy office!"
Since it is term break for students, I am quite free in the office. So yesterday, I took Qi Ning to my office with me. She was really enjoying herself in the college. I have quite a big room to myself which consist of a lounge area for students to sit and relax, a room for me and a counselling room. So she is happy running from one place to another since there were no students around.
When she is bored, our maid, Sulikah will take her out of the office and have a run in the college compound. But most of the time she happy playing in my office area. I have a bottle full of stars that one of my friend make for me, she enjoys playing with that. Of course she also attarct a lots of attention from my fellow work mate. Good thing I am the only one in my department, so she did not disturb any other person. She spents the whole day in my office, even had her nap there! And when it is tiem to goes home, she sort of wanting to stay on.
Hubby was concerned that she may want to follow me to office everyday, he reminded me to tell her that it is only on occasion that I can bring her to office. Glad that he remind me. This morning when she woke up, first thing she told me is "I want to go mommy office!" So i explained to her why she can't go to mummy office everyday. Good thing she is understanding and didn't protest. When I left to go office, she also didn't fuss. I just give her a hug and kiss her goodbye then she let me go off!
My Little Angel
Each time when I looks at Qi Ning, I am just so amazed at how much she has grown! For the past twenty-two months, she has brought us much joy and is continuingly blessing us with more joy! I must say that she is an easy girl to take care and is very understanding. She is real kind and compassionate as well.
Now that I am expecting no 2, stomach is showing, she begins to appreciate a little bit more that there is a baby in mummy's stomach. Sometime, she would come close to me and "sayang" baby. We name baby '"bao bei" for the moment. So at time you would hear her sing song to bao bei. Whenever people ask where is mummy's baby, she will come around and sayang my stomach!
Before the arrival of no 2, I am thinking of getting her to sleep on her own bed. So that when no 2 is here, she does not feel that we suddenly put her in another bed! Guess I might meet with some resistance as now that I have weaned her off nursing, she want to snuggle close to me when she sleeps. And sometime, in the middle of the night, I can hear her saying "mummy hug hug Qi Ning!" Since she is sandwich between us at the moment, is easier for me to respond to her request for hug. Dunno what would happen when we move her to her own bed. We have gotten her a single bed, is already in our room but we have yet get her to sleep there. Not sure is harder for mummy or Qi Ning, for her to goes sleep on her own bed!
Kind and considerate
Dunno know why lately, I am having a hard time logging on to blogspot. It always take so long till I give up. But this incidents really worth blogging so I endure the long wait for the page to appear!
Is about my girl. Ever since I found out that I was pregnant, I have been trying to wean Qi Ning but she was not quite ready to give up. She still want to nurse before she sleeps at night and also first thing in the morning! So I just let her. But two days ago, dunno how or why, there was a crack on one side of the nipple. I show her and told her "mummy pain pain". she quickly blow for me. So that night, when she was about to slepp, she ask to nurse and then repeat to herself "mummy pain pain". She just snuggle closely to me without asking to nurse. I heard her saying to her self a few time "mummy pain pain" and then doze off to sleep.
The second morning, she again wanted to ask to nurse and then she answer herself by saying "mummy pain pain". Yesterday night and this morning was the same. Her gesture tells me she want to nurse and then she reminded herself of my sore nipple. And she don't demand to nurse anymore! I am very touch by her understanding and kindness shown towards mummy at such tender age. She know mummy will feel the pain if she demand to nurse and because she loves mummy she is willing to forgo her own comfort! What a kind girl that I have! Mummy is so pround of her!
Going to Kuching next week!
Yea, we are going to another holiday soon! This time round is heading toward Kuching, the cat city! So far, nothing has been planned, just gonna be a R&R trip for the family before mummy is grounded with another little one in November! I am doing the countdown, how many more days to go! We will be leaving KL on Wednesday and come back on Saturday.
Qi Ning is excited that she can go on the plane again! She rememebers her plane rides to Bangkok. Now, whenever we mentioned about plane ride, she would stretch out her hand and make a "oozzoo" sound as if the plane is flying. Is really cute to see her doing it
Any of you being to Kuching and have good recommendation, pls drop me a line!
Mamak kaki
I loves to drink teh tarik and eat roti canai. When we we going out as couple, hubby and I spent lots of our time at mamak stall but ever since we have Qi Ning, we seldom go to mamak anymore. But recently, we have introduced Qi Ning to roti canai, roti pisang, roti tissue, tosai..etc and she is loving it as well. Now we starts going back to mamak stall again! We usually go there for our Saturday breakfast.
On friday night we told her that we shall be going for roti canai in the morning. She is to wake up daddy and mummy when the sun shine in the morning. She was so excited about it that she woke up so early on Sat morning at 6.30am! She was quite good in not waking us up at 6.30am. She was playing in the bed on her own but when the day is slightly brighter at about 7.00am, she starts to wake us up to go for roti canai!
Qi Ning this and that
Yesterday was Qi Ning 21 mths old milestone. This little girl is getting very cheecky and manja nowadays! She will choose who will feed her, change her, hold her hand, bath her and help her with whatever she needs. If the person that she name (usually is either papa or mama, she just don't want the maid) does not do it for her, her tear will starts flowing down.
Now that mummy stomach is showing a little and due to low lying placenta, I am trying not to carry her at all and she doesn't seem to like these changes. So now when I tell her she is gonna be jie jie soon or just address her as jie jie, she would say "don't want jie jie already"!
Now she can hold a simple conversation with people and she will not always perform as you request anymore. She will only comply when she feels like it. But most of the time she is still very co-operative. Just by thinking of her brings smile to my face!
Weekends happening
Friday
Last friday was my birthday, like what one of my friend says the best gift is having Qi Ning singing the happy birthday song to me! :) Papa already told Qi Ning it was my birthday, so on friday evening when I arrived home from work she is ready to wish me "happy birthday" at the door step! We went out for dinner and then to buy birthday cake. I think Qi ning enjoy the whole event more than anyone of us. She is excited about the cake, the candles..etc. Seeing her enjoying the celebration brings contentment to my heart!
Saturday
On Saturday afternoon, we went out for lunch at a restraurant neaby our house. And guess what, we saw our runaway maid working there as a waitress! Don't know how to respond, called our maid agency to ask what should we do but till today they still have not get back to us. Also they are not sure if they have cancelled her work permit or not! I got so felt up with the agency but what can I do?
I actually spoke to the maid asked why is working there when her permit is is supposed to be under our name. She just kept quiet. She looked darker and thinner than she was with us. If my husband has not pointed out, I wouldn't have notice her. Meeting her sort of spoilt our mood for a while but later on we decided it is not worth allowing a runaway maid to spoilt our day.
Sunday
Is father's day which I nearly forgotten. I was reminded of it while at church. So I decided to join with another family to celebrate this day. We had dinner with uncle Yap's family at a Thai restraurant. Qi Ning enjoys herself very much. There was a fish tank near to our table so she was quite happy looking at the fish and playing with the fishes in the tank.
Blanket fun
For the past few days, ever since I introduce her to the blanket magic, Qi Ning is fascinated by what a blanket can do. Now she can spent half an hour just playing with the blanket. I think this is mainly due to her budding imagination. With the blanket, she can imagine it to be anything she wants, one moment can be superman's outer suit, a scalf..etc One minutes she will wear the blanket as a scalf, or just wrap round like a batik skirt, sometime, she would sit there and wrap her Barney with the blanket as well. And then she will turn it into a bed for Barney to sleep. She would say "Barney Oi mee mee time huh" (time to sleep) and she will sing lalluby song for Barney. so cute to see her trying to imitate mummy!
Fun fair
Last night after dinner, daddy decided to take us to a fun fair. Actually he has been talking about bringing Qi Ning to fun fair for the past week only mummy is lazy to go during the weekday. So last night, since both mummy & Qi Ning had a good nap in the vening, after dinner with Aunty Lee & family, off we go to fun fair!
Qi Ning was very excited upon seeing all the light and hearing the music blasting from the car park. Her hand was up in the air and her feet seems to be dancing. We took a walk round and decide what are the ride that is safe for her to go on. Daddy went with her for all the rides except the train ride. Mummy cannot go on any of the rides with her because of pregnancy and all those rides seem to make me dizzy!
Her first ride with daddy was the UFO which was not very suitable for her so only two round, I have to ask the operator to slow down and let them off the ride. It was going tos fast, I guess it will be a thriller for a youth not a toddler. Then they went for the giant wheel, which was ok for her. Her favourite ride is the train, she wanted to go for another round when her ride ends!
We also let her play with some of the games, trying to win some prizes. It was just fun to see her enjoying herself! We throw the ping pong ball. fish with a net and watch other people throw darts, shooting, and all the game stores in the fun fare. Of course fun fair is not complete without the kacang putih, so we also had a packet of kacang putih in our hand.
I myself have not been to fun fair for so long so it was good to visit it with Qi Ning.
My Darling, Qi Ning
Qi Ning was down with fever for the past few days, the fever come on and off. She is still her usual active self despite the fever. I didn't give her any medication earlier on as the fever was very mild but later when her fever went up to 38.4degree, I gave her paracetomol. I was worried that she may not like the medicine and might struggle with me, but surprisingly she took it very well, no fuss at all! Mummy was so happy that she is so co-operative when comes to taking medicine.
She is also quite good in drinking plain water. Since she is having fever, we encourage her to drink a lots of water and she will do as told. Only sometime she would choose who should hold the cup for her, either daddy or mummy. She even wakes up in the middle of night to ask for water! So mummy has got panda eyes for this few days!
My Qi ning is a real darling, at such young age, she seem to be a very understanding girl. I just need to explain the situation to her and most of the time she will comply. This morning, after breakfast, I was playing with her and when is time for me to go off to work, she actually tells me to go and plant a kiss on my lip and say "mummy I love you" before I leave the door! Previously she would cling on to me and say "mummy cannot go to office"! What a change.
Now she also will say "mummy I love you" without being prompt. Is so sweet to hear that from her. Sometime I also encourage her to say "I love you baby" especailly during the night time when we are getting ready to sleep. And I will say to her on behalf of baby "jie jie I love you". Hopefully this will help to prepare her for the arrival of her sibling in November. She knows that mummy is carrying a baby in the stomach. When people ask her where is mummy's baby, she will say stomach.
With such a sweet girl at home, it sure make parenting a joy and I am looking forward to the new addition in the family. Thank God also my morning sickness is over!
Holidayings
Last friday, I took leave and went back Sitiawan to visit my parents along with my brother's family. Hubby couldn't make it so we tag along with my brother's family. I told Qi Ning we are going for holidays and she is very happy. Ever since our Bangkok trip in April, she understands what holidays mean (lots of fun for her!). So when hubby sent us to my brother's house, she refused to go in to the house, keeping telling me "holiday mummy". I have to assure her that we are going holidays with "xiao jiu" (uncle), only then she follows me in to the house.
After breakfast, we all jamed into my brother's MPV, five adults and five kids. This is the first time she trevels with her cousins and not having to be retrained to her car-seat. She was quite happy playing with her cousin's sunglass and hat, singing and chatting away. Also manage to get her to nap for an hour or so during the journey. At night, afetr dinner, we went shopping, she is so happy running round the aisle with her cousins. She was having so much fun that she doesn't even miss her daddy!
We took her to Teluk Batik beach on Saturday, too bad I didn't bring my camera so no photo. She really enjoy swimming in the sea and also playing with the sand. After the beach, we went for seafood dinner and it took a looong time for the food to be served, she was so tired that she dozed off while waiting for food. She slept thru' the dinner and mummy has to carry her and eat with one hand!
Sunday morning after breakfast we packed and get ready to head home and we stopped at Kuala Selangor for our seafood lunch, yummy yummy food at very reasonable price.
I guess maybe due to the hot weather, my little Qi Ning came down with slight fever after the trip. Thank God she is better today!
Twenty months old
When you have a little one at home, you realise how fast time flies and how fast the little one is growing! My Qi Ning is already twenty mths and 2 days old now! This busy mummy had no time to update her development last week.
Weight: 12 Kg
Height: 84cm
Toilet training: Successful, she can tell you when she want to poo & pee. Yea, mummy can save on diaper now!
I am happy with her overall development. She can sing quite well, new songs that she acquired this moths are: ABC song, There are seven days in a week, Jesus loves me, "ke ren lai". And sometime she would invent her own song.
At moment she loves to wear her slipper, whenever we go out she would ask to wear her slipper instaed of shoe. I told her to put on her shoes, her reply to me is "Ning Ning big girl wear slipper." I was suprised to hear saying that. Indeed my little girl is growing up fast! I really enjoy having her!
Busy, busy, busy
This week is a really busy week for me as it is the college annual family week where I am responsible for the events. Also because I am taking on teaching responsibility beginning this semester, I am not able to be home as early as I use to. My little girl is feeling the absence of her mummy. :(
Beginning this week, every morning she would hang on to me and refused to let me go to office. She would cry when I leave. This morning, when she saw me took out the office clothing, she actually asked me to put it back to the closet. I told her mummy need to go to the office and her answer is "cannot go"! It really sadden me to leave her behind everyday and some time I do feel guilty. Hope that she understand when she grows up why mummy need to go to office!
Horse riding trip!
Last weekend we went to Fraser Hill for our church camp. One of the highlight for everyone is the horse riding experience. Qi Ning also had a go at it. Last year when we took her there, she just sat on the horse and took a picture. This year she actually went for a walk on the horse with Shirley jie jie (Shirley jie jie share the same birthday as her). Qi Ning was so excited and wanted to go for another round!
To keep or not to keep the temporarily maid
About 11 days ago, we took a temporarily maid to help up at home. The agent say if we think she is ok, we can keep her. Have been observing her for the past weeks. For the first week, there were twice she woke up just before we get down for breakfast i.e 7.30am. Water is not boiled, her morning chores not done! She smile sheepishly and say "saya baru bangun" (just wake up), even after we have given her an alarm clock and is very sure that the alarm clock is working! Ask her if the alarm clock rings she say yes. We ask her to wake up at 6.00am or not later than 6.30am as per agent instruction but there are days that it doesn't seem to work!
She has improved in some of the task since the day she comes and seems to be eager to please us. She is not the smart type and does not take initiative in doing things. Even when you want to shows her how to do certain task, she will stand there and watch till you ask her to be involved!
We took her to the church retreat at Fraser Hill over the long weekend. There were three other maids, even those other maid told us not to keep her, saying she is inexperience and doesn't know how to do things.
For me, I do see her trying to do her best but I don't know whether is her nature or she is really slow, she just don't follow. You have to repeat and repeat for days then she will get it! I brought her to my sis-in-law place last Sunday, she has had maids for many years, her comment is that it seem like an attitude problem after she observe how my maid work in the kitchen for the evening.
I am not a very fussy person, I just want someone who can help do the housework and help to look after Qi Ning when I requires her to do so. Being a young girl she is not experience in taking care of little one. Ask her to help look after Qi ning she would normally just sit there with Qi ning or stand there looking at her. Told her, she has to communicate with Qi Ning and play with her if not Qi Ning would not want her. She is still not very good with Qi Ning yet.
So I am toying with the idea maybe I should not keep her. At the same time, I feel sorry for her. If I reject her, then this is her third time being rejected by an employer. I see that she is trying hard but somehow, I am not sure if she will continue to try hard when we take her on permanently! Her nature seem to be very lay back and I am not sure when our second baby arrive year end, with her slowness if she would be a help or a source of frustration! If I follow majority vote, she will have to go, if I let my heart have a say, I feel sorry for her and may keep her for trying hard but if I allowed my rational mind to be involved, then I may follow the majority. Hubby and I are undecided, we agreed we should observe her for a little longer b4 we decide! What do you say my blogger friends?!
